Looking for a REAL Montessori? Raffles Montessori Kindergarten (Aljunied)’s New Flexible Programmes

LearnPost Category - LearnLearn - Post Category - SchoolsSchools

Looking for a school that truly embodies core Montessori principles, mama?

Raffles Montessori Kindergarten (Aljunied) is where it’s at, with their mixed-age classrooms (the benefit being that younger children learn advanced lessons from their peers, and the older kids’ learnings are reinforced as they teach the younger ones) and a curriculum approved by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). Class sizes are kept small so teachers have more dedicated focus on each child, plus the prepared classroom environment also has specialised, Montessori educational materials.

As at any true Montessori school, learning is self-directed and child-led at the child’s own pace, which cultivates independence and helps promote executive function. Teachers’ main role is to act as a guide to help scaffold children’s learning.

Raffles Montessori Kindergarten has a strong Mandarin immersion programme in which children are exposed to both English and Mandarin during daily circle time to help them appreciate both languages equally through stories, songs, dance, themed talks and social interactions.

On top of their main school programme, Raffles Montessori Kindergarten will be launching two new flexible programmes in 2019, which will give families options anywhere from one to five times a week:

Mini Montessori Sessions
The Mini Montessori sessions are essentially a shortened version of the preschool toddler programme. The 1.5-hour afternoon sessions are perfect for parents looking for a Montessori experience for their child, who don’t want a long preschool session. It includes Montessori time and circle time activities, such as art & craft, music and movement, gym and cookery! The programme is for toddlers 18 months – 3 years old.

Montessori Workgroups
Aimed at children ages 4 to 6 years old, the Montessori workgroups are 1.5-hour sessions for strengthening literacy and numeracy through the Montessori method. Children will be introduced to classic Montessori materials such as the large movable alphabet, reading programme, Montessori bead cabinet and many more!

Find out more about the Raffles Montessori Kindergarten experience at their upcoming Open House on 10 November, 10am to 2pm, mama!

Enrolments during the month of November for the preschool programme will enjoy up to $500 in fee waivers!
