You’re Invited: Much More Than Just a Playground on the East Coast

Does your little one love a good playground (who doesn’t)? Come to a garden party at the new Outdoor Discovery Centre at Tanjong Katong for an outdoor adventure!

Following the resounding success of the amazing Outdoor Discovery Centre at their Lakeside Campus in Jurong, Canadian International School (CIS) has just announced the debut of a new Outdoor Discovery Centre at their cosy Tanjong Katong Campus on the East Coast!

Now East Coast mamas don’t have to envy those families in the West; CIS Tanjong Katong has long been beloved for its convenient location amongst the many shops and restaurants of Tanjong Katong and East Coast Road (not to mention heaps of condos within walking distance). To celebrate, CIS is inviting Sassy Mamas and their kiddos to a super fun Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed grand opening Garden Party inside the brilliant new space on 24 February.

Highlights of the party will include:

• Storytelling by CIS students in Chinese and English of Eric Carle’s famous The Very Hungry Caterpillar
• Fun obstacle course games
• Arts & Crafts activities
• Hands-on play in the mud kitchen
• Engaging activities in the new vegetable garden (kiddos can plant seeds in cups, then take them home to watch them grow!)

The party is the perfect opportunity to find out more about CIS’s inquiry- and play-based teaching approach in the early years. You can also discover firsthand why this new space is much more than a typical playground: thanks to multi-sensory features like a mud kitchen, vegetable and sound gardens, a bicycle track, grassy hills and tunnels, it’s great for not only developing little ones’ motor skills, but also boosts literacy skills and a love of nature and the environment.

We love that each and every Kindergarten classroom actually opens directly onto the new space, giving little ones safe and easy access to the sights, sounds, tastes and textures of the outdoors.

The opening follows the school’s exciting announcement of its campus lease extension along with the debut of a new programme for two-year-olds that starts in August 2017*.

So come down for a lovely morning of inspired outdoor play, mama (along with some yummy light refreshments), and you might just come away amazed at how it can impact your child’s educational journey well into the future.
