Are you new to Singapore, mama? Or are your kiddos getting ready to take international school or university entrance exams? Perhaps you’d like to improve your public speaking and confidence for use in the workplace?

Whatever the reason, look to British Council to help you get there. With over 70 years’ teaching experience, their wide range of English courses and camps have helped non-native speakers improve their English communication skills!

Interactive, engaging classes for children (age 3 and up) and adults are led by highly trained and experienced instructors, at three convenient locations (Napier Road, Marsiling and Toa Payoh) across Singapore. Teachers create a warm and engaging atmosphere where students can socialise, borrow a boardgame, browse the library or simply grab a coffee with classmates right on site. It all adds up to a fabulous way to both practice conversation skills and make friends!

British Council student Lorena Buendia from Lima, Peru shares how multicultural Singapore has made learning English here enjoyable. Watch below as she shows her favourite hangouts in Singapore and tells us about what she has learnt and the friends she has made!

All students aged 15 and above get automatic access to myClub, through which British Council organises field trips and offers a full calendar of free events to improve skills, boost confidence and make friends. For instance, perhaps you’re apprehensive about taking a Yoga class because you have trouble understanding the instructor. There’s “Try Yoga for Listening”! If you’ve joined a WhatsApp group at your kiddo’s school but are too shy to jump in and comment, there’s even a class on Instant Messaging skills! Of course British Council also covers business-specific topics to make you more comfortable in the workplace, mama.

Course lengths vary from one month to a year, with flexible schedules catering to those who need to study more intensively (up to five classes per week) or those with a full-time job who need to stretch out their sessions. Mamas with specific needs, or those who prefer to study in a private setting, can opt for one-on-one classes at their preferred location and time.
