STEAM Festival, 8-11 October 2020
Beyond Boundaries, 19 October to 29 November 2020
STEM Conference, 5-6 November 2020
If your kid is interested in all things STEM (a.k.a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), then head down to the Singapore Science Centre to check out UNTAME. This fun STEM festival is all about honing STEM creativity in little ones through three fun events. Participate in UNTAME’s events at KidsSTOP and enjoy a bonding experience with your child, or dream up your best ideas and explore countless possibilities at home through the various online activities.
There are more than 30 virtual quests for children to partake in, and activities include chats with local and international STEM heroes, exciting science performances by several acts as well as educational STEM DIY sessions, build-along activities and other challenges.
Children with ticket packages will get to solve challenges and join in on the exhibitions, activities and vodcasts. Some of the activities your child will get to experience include a sensory-based trail that teaches them about the importance of marine life, a build-your-own-catapult room, coding challenges and much more.
However, should you prefer to practice social distancing, then your child can also participate virtually. The engaging virtual shows feature an array of STEM components presented through songs, DIY craft-making and drama. Pre-show crafts and materials can be downloaded from the Singapore Science Centre website, and the shows will be streamed on the UNTAME Facebook page during the scheduled time slots. There’s a virtual library filled with valuable resources and handy books, too!
This two-day conference will have presentations from local and international speakers, and will bring educators and professionals from different STEM disciplines. It aims to serve as a platform for educators to discuss the role of STEM in education today and to inspire young learners to work towards a career in STEM industries. The conference will expose participants to real-world industries, problems and applications. In addition to Applied Learning workshops and tinkering sessions, there will also be sharing sessions on best teaching practices, adopting technology in the classroom and the various efforts, challenges and directions being used to promote STEM education.
