Sassy Mama's Ultimate Holiday Fair Guide 2014

With sparkly lights lining Orchard Road and larger-than-life Christmas trees in every mall on the island, we don’t have to tell you that Christmas is a hop and a skip away. And what better way to ring in the festive season than a spot or two of shopping? We rounded up some of the best bazaars, fairs and markets so you don’t miss out on the best shopping in Singapore this year end!

A NAIISE CHRISTMAS POP UP STORE
Online retailer Naiise brings together some of the best local crafters, designers, artists and even food vendors for their fourth major pop-up event of the year and it is one you should definitely check out. Naiise will be selling design products from more than 150 independent designers from Singapore and around the world. On top of that, each weekend will see fresh menus headlined by food partners like The Cajun Kings, Park Bench Deli, Morsels, Burnt Ends, Artichoke and Kith Cafe. Coffee, artisanal foods and smaller food items will also be available throughout the week. In the spirit of giving, Naiise is partnering with Club Rainbow to grant Christmas wishes for 100 children who are suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Visitors to the pop-up store can grant any of these wishes displayed on the special Christmas tree.

AFFORDABLE ART FAIR
The Affordable Art Fair returns for the second time this year, and as always, you can expect thousands of paintings, sculptures and photographs represented by hundreds of galleries around the world. The artworks are priced between $100 and $10,000, with 75% of the artwork under SG$7500. Tickets are available on SISTIC.

AWA NEARLY NEW SALE
Join the American Women’s Association at Stamford American International School and browse their fab stalls for everything from maternity-wear and baby clothes to toys and books. CLARKE QUAY TRADERS MARKET
The ever popular monthly Clarke Quay market will host a significantly festive vibe during December! While you’ll still be able to shop super-cool pop-ups for fashion, gifts, tasty treats and more, there’ll also be roving Christmas characters ready to pose for snaps with munchkins!

FANCY FAIRE @ THE ORCHARD HOTEL
If you’re looking for something a bit different from the santa-heavy bazaars, make your way over to Fancy Faire at The Orchard Hotel, which has adopted an Asian crafts focus this year. Featuring fine art, paintings, antiques, ornaments, home décor, jewellery and clothing from collectors and exhibitors around the world, this year’s Fancy Faire will seamlessly merge culture with retail. Perfect!

GESS CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
If this bazaar doesn’t get you in the festive spirit, you’re a total grinch, mama! But all joking aside, this fantastic annual Christmas bazaar at the German European School Singapore is the ultimate holiday fair. Stroll around, tuck into traditional German Christmas sweets, purchase handmade advent decorations for littlies, warm the cockles with mugs of mulled wine, listen to live christmas carols performed by the GESS’ own choir, and keep the festivities going with the after-bazaar social BBQ!

KEEPERS EMERGENCY SHOPPING
If you’re looking for unique, homegrown and super-cool gifts for the clothes horses in your life you’ll definitely want to head over to KEEPERS over these two special weekends in December. With extended opening hours, you can browse some of Singapore’s best local independent brands, and pick up everything from accessories and apparel to edible gifts and cool knickknacks. Plus there will be food trucks, live music and funky entertainment, making it an event you don’t want to miss!

MAAD PYJAMAS

Public Garden is ending 2014 with a bang, with the largest series of Christmas markets they’ve ever had. With over 150 vendors setting up shop, you can expect everything from Instagrammable baked goods, to decorative homeware, kitschy jewellery and even locally-produced nut butters.

TABITHA FOUNDATION SILK FAIR
Looking to stock up on fabulous silks and all for a good cause? A firm fave on the Sassy Mama shopping scene, UWCSEA Dover’s Christmas Fair returns, filled to the brim with fab jewellery, cool clothing, toys, accessories, handmade crafts, and gourmet goodies. It’s the ideal spot to stock up on gifts and stocking filers, as items are brought in by NGOs that have teamed up with the school so you’ll be giving back while shopping till you drop, mama!
