Sassy Mama x Spotify Friday Playlist: #familytime

Happy Friday mamas! The weekend is mere hours away, which means it’s time to let loose and hopefully get in some quality hangout time with the fam. In our family, Maggie is all about dancing these days, and although we’ve declared the apartment a Barney-free zone, we’re starting to realise she probably shouldn’t be listening to explicit Biggie and Drake lyrics, either. This #familytime playlist from our friends over at Spotify is the perfect balance of catchy, inoffensive tunes that’ll have the kiddos tapping their toes and you humming along, without  planting itself in your brain on endless loop.

We love how it kicks things off with the White Stripes’ “We’re Going to be Friends” (just like Napoleon Dynamite, how cool will your kids be?) while also throwing in everything from oldies like Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” (which my dad used to dance to with me) to kids’ classic “Puff the Magic Dragon”. It then winds down on a mellow note with John Denver’s group singalong staple “Take Me Home, Country Roads”; if all goes according to plan, our family dance party will segue right into naptime!
