The kids may be on holiday, but for working parents, the challenge of what to do with the kids while at full-time work begins.

While there are summer camps and a whole multitude of enrichment classes to choose from here in Singapore, the child of a working mum or dad, or both, will always see time spent in the company of his favourite person, or two, as the best holiday, and it is for this very reason that Raffles Hotel has come up with its signature Family Fun Package.

The 3-day, 2 night-stay begins with the kids receiving their very own Raffles Hotel passport, which enables them to participate in a series of fun, fact-finding activities, dressed in the complimentary Raffles cap or t-shirt to complete the official Raffles investigator look, about the history of what is perhaps the most iconic structure in Singapore.

Was there really, as legend has it, a tiger under the billiard room? Let the kids find out from one of the well-versed hotel staff, or from the Raffles’ resident historian and a hands-on granddad himself, Mr. Leslie Danker, who has been with the hotel since… well, that may be another mystery for your kids to solve.

Each successful activity entitles your child to one stamp, with three or more seeing them receiving a special gift from the hotel’s gift shop – a popular shopping destination for tourists wanting to bring home a memento from the Grand Old Dame of Singaporean hospitality, which has served heads of state and celebrities from all over the world since it opened in 1887.

Aside from their weekend sleuthing, kids will be welcomed to their suite room with cookies and fruit smoothies, while their parents sip on the Raffles’ signature cocktail, the Singapore Sling. They will also get personalised postcards and stationery for them to share their Raffles experience with their friends.

For those whose parents opt up to the Grand Hotel or Presidential Suite, they will also get their own specially monogrammed hotel bathrobe for them use and take home later on.

Kids also get to dine with their parents for free at any of the hotel’s restaurants, including the Tiffin Room, where they can not only enjoy some of the best Indian cuisine in Singapore, but also, and this is particularly for little girls, enjoy a proper high tea, with clotted cream, freshly made jam and the prettiest little pastries and finger sandwiches. Teddy (bear) can come too, of course!

There are other kid-centric activities to be enjoyed over the staycation, such as pizza, ice cream or mocktail making sessions at the Courtyard for future Masterchefs who have more than three stars in their Raffles passports, and of course, there’s swimming in their gorgeous – and serene – rooftop pool, conveniently located right next to their signature spa.

Included in the package are four tickets (for two adults and two children) to either the Singapore Zoo or Universal Studios, which many of us Singapore-based parents may have been to before, but not with the prospect of coming “home” to a Raffles suite afterwards, and enjoying the luxurious comfort the hotel Prince William recently said to members of the hotel’s staff, his grandmother the Queen, who had also stayed at the hotel before, told him he and Kate would definitely enjoy.

The Raffles Family Fun Package is available for S$1700++ for 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 12 and includes 2 nights complimentary suite stay for up to 2 children (adjoining suites are available at additional cost), complimentary buffet breakfast for all family members in the Tiffin Room, aside from all the other goodies mentioned in the article above (activity selections and promotional items are subject to availability and management directive).
