Are you teaching your kids to look after our planet and protect our seas?
If you’ve seen the shocking footage of the sea of plastic in our ocean you’ll know how important it is to start cleaning up and protecting our oceans. S.E.A. Aquarium is educating little people on this important topic before it’s too late. The newly launched Ocean Fest! – on from now until 24 June 2018 – raises awareness for ocean conservation and will get your kids interested in doing their part to protect the seas.
S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Fest! brings the plight of the polluted oceans to life with its immersive art installation, underwater performances, upcycling workshops, educational challenges and eco-marketplace showcasing ocean-friendly products. Ocean Fest! is a super family-friendly event with an important message about conservation -made all the more relevant given you are surrounded by beautiful sea life and marine animals at the stunning S.E.A. Aquarium.
New Underwater Shows & Green Workshops
S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Fest! is putting on a new underwater show, “Harmony’s Message”, to teach families how to keep the ocean and marine life healthy. There will also be upcycling workshops where kids can get creative with old materials and understand the value of that important ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ mantra!
Weekend Ocean Eco-Market
Every weekend until 24 June 2018, the eco-market will take place featuring 10 eco- friendly booths offering everything from upcycled LED lamps, to organic beauty products free from microplastics that harm the ocean. Organised in partnership with Terra SG – a social enterprise that advocates individuals to make a positive environmental change – S.E.A. Aquarium’s eco-market encourages us to strive towards living a zero waste life (something we are passionate about at Sassy Mama).
Your kids can get involved in this one, too! We are calling all mini investigators – find out what harms marine life, from the plastic trash found in the stomachs of animals to tiny microbeads. This interactive zone will encourage kids to review evidence and identify culprits to solve the cases of animal victims such as the shark and albatross, empowering them to take simple actions such as rejecting that plastic straw forever.
Life in Plastic Art Display
The art installation, “Life in Plastic”, will get your kids asking all the right questions about what they can do to stop their everyday use of plastics harming marine life. This art installation made of plastic bottles, fishing nets and other marine litter, highlights the real-life horrors of plastic pollution, and its effects on animals.
