Do you believe in real underwater vampires and ghosts?
Let’s go on a scavenger hunt – find clues around the Aquarium to learn more about these wonderful sea creatures. It’s not your average looking vampire you’ll see here but the vampire fish! This fish has sharp fangs that can grow up to 5cm long and it’s one of the scariest freshwater fishes in the world! What about ghosts you ask? No boohooing ghosts here – something better! The ghost shark (or elephant fish) has been around since before dinosaurs – it’s got a long trunk-like snout that helps it detect hidden prey! So watch out kiddos!
There are lots of other interesting fish to search for – the Bumphead Parrotfish, Paddlefish and the Tasselled Wobbegong Shark. Did you find them all?
Free Origami Station
Take home some paper sea creatures! Mums and dads will appreciate the strategic origami station at the Ocean Gallery. Kids can calm down for a few precious moments and try their hand at making creatures out of paper while parents get to enjoy the stunning views of manta rays, eagle rays sharks and more – our very favourite spot in the whole aquarium! Plus kids get to walk away with a sweet memento of their time at the Aquarium.
Make a Badge Craft Station
At the Ocean Dome there’s also the chance to make your own badge (ticketed craft).
Meet and greet: Have you met Mai the Manta Ray and Sam the Hammerhead Shark? Spot them around S.E.A Aquarium and take a photo with these friendly mascots!
Fish Talks & Feeding Time
Plus look out for educational Fish Talks to learn about the wonderful animals in the sea and then stand by for feeding time! Aquarists will be feeding the fish in front of your eyes — a great photo opportunity. Want to get up close with the sea creatures? Look out for the Discovery Touch Pool where you can touch a starfish or sea cucumber!
