Looking to have some Chinese New Year fun with your kids? Head to S.E.A. Aquarium for some auspicious aquatic revelry (and exciting giveaways)!

It may be the Year of the Dog, mama, but some of this year’s most fun Chinese New Year activities for kids are happening under the sea. At S.E.A. Aquarium, to be specific, with the return of the ever popular Gong SEA Fa Cai!

sea aquarium underwater dragon dance

Ever seen an Underwater Dragon Dance? Kiddos (and adults – we’ve totally gotta see how they pull this off!) will be amazed to watch divers in festive costumes – newly designed for this year! – perform a traditional dragon dance in the iconic Open Ocean Habitat alongside 40,000 marine residents like manta rays and zebra sharks. Watch as the Sea Goddess directs the performance, which will culminate with the story of the Fish of Fortune at the Ocean Dome.

Kids can also get into the Chinese New Year spirit with Trail of Fortune, which showcases popular Lunar New Year traditions and beliefs while enlightening them with cool fun facts. They’ll find out which marine is life considered auspicious in Chinese culture (leafy sea dragon, anyone?), and learn fun facts about all 12 zodiac animal signs (including marine counterparts). Importantly, kiddos will also get important tips about ocean conservation, such as reducing plastic waste and saying ‘NO’ to shark fins.

Along the way they can also explore a super cool Shark Exhibition in partnership with James Cook University, one of the world’s leading institutions for shark research! Guests can take an up-close look at the biology of a shark, discover fascinating facts about different species, and get the lowdown on important conservation efforts to save one of the world’s most misunderstood animals. Did you know, for instance, that Hammerhead Sharks swim on their sides to increase swimming efficiency? This exhibit was made for curious kiddos!

There’ll even be Meet & Greet sessions with Mai the Manta Ray and Sam the Hammerhead Shark, decked out in their Chinese New Year finery, of course!

S.E.A. Aquarium will also be featuring Gong SEA Fa Cai Ocean Dreams, an extra-special twist on its amazing sleep-over-at-the-aquarium programme for kids 6 and up. At this one-night sleepaway camp from 23-24 February, kids and their parents will have the aquarium all to themselves once the crowds have gone home. They’ll also get to enjoy storytelling with the Sea Goddess and God of Fortune, an exciting manta interaction session, an exclusive photo op with underwater divers, and yummy Chinese New Year breakfast at The Bay Restaurant!

Sounds awesome, right? You will definitely want to enter S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Dreams Giveaway then, mama! Families can also look forward to the Huat with Sea Dragons social media contest, with a chance to win $888 worth of prizes!

Meanwhile, be sure to check out auspicious ticketing promotions to help you make the most of this festive season, including special ticket rates for Singapore residents; savings on 2 x Adult Annual Passes + Free F&B vouchers; and a special family price on Ocean Dreams.
