Tea & Tots: Taking Baby Playgroup to the Next Level

PlayPost Category - PlayPlay

Introducing Tea & Tots – a new adult-accompanied playgroup for bubs aged 8-18 months where playdates are kicked up a notch with thematic play-based learning

Want to be inspired at the next playgroup with your little one? Tea & Tots is where it’s at, mama – we’re talking about a new adult-accompanied playgroup specially designed for active bubs aged 8 -18 months. Situated in the bright and airy boutique campus of The Integrated International School (IIS) in Clementi, babies will learn through play while adults will pick up some unique tactics to bring out the thoughtful explorer in kids.

Play-Based Learning
Rooted in thematic and play-based learning, Tea & Tots is a fun opportunity for little ones to play and socialise. Adults will get a chance to chit chat and re-energize over tea and biscuits, and then it’s time to join in the fun! Bonus: in these sessions you’ll get major play-inspo for new activities that you can do at home that will spark curiosity and encourage adventure in your bubs.

Playgroup Experience
The sessions are more structured than a typical play date at home, with circle time, magical stories, sensorial play, music & movement, and arts & crafts thoughtfully built into the 75 minute class. What’s more, IIS welcomes any carer or adult to accompany their kiddos, so that means anyone from mama and dad to grandparents, helpers, aunts, or uncles!

Sensory Play
The wee ones will get to safely exercise all their senses, including squishing little hands into materials such as paint, sand, clay and fabric, as well as looking at shimmering images, sorting through colourful shapes and listening to soothing music in the one-of-a-kind Ocean Snoezelen Room – a unique sensory room among Singapore’s international schools. Expect lots of rolling, tumbling and peek-a-boo’s too!

Intro to Drop-off Nursery
IIS Foundations is the school’s early years programme at the heart of Tea & Tots. The playgroup serves as a great introduction for tiny ones to get used to a school environment with a familiar face nearby, eventually offering a seamless integration to the next level up of IIS Foundations called Little Tykes. Launching in January 2018, Little Tykes is a new toddler drop-off nursery for 18 months – 3.5 year olds. There’s a coffee morning at the school on 4 November from 10-11am if you’re interested to learn more, mama – get in touch to confirm a spot.

Mama Approved

The principal and founder of IIS, Dr Vanessa von Auer is a clinical psychologist specialising in children and she also happens to have two young kids herself. Vanessa wanted to provide a fun space for her youngest baby of 8 months to play with mama nearby – so you know Tea & Tots has got a real mama’s stamp of approval!

New Ideas
IIS has always been about breaking the mold and redefining success – why not start early by learning some new activities to play alongside your bub and inspire a love for learning and exploration!

Today is Baby Loss Remembrance Day. To all the mamas who have loved and lost, we stand with you remembering the lives of your babies lost in pregnancy or soon after birth. Our 'That Mama' Aivonne Chong opens her heart up to us on losing two of her babies in a topic not often discussed - swip up to read her candid interview. Our thoughts are with you mamas.

Family gatherings around a big feast is always good for the soul. Grab a bit of everything, that's the great thing about Asian meals! Slurp the soupy noodles and dig into the veggies and rice. And the fun thing about weekends is that you can indulge and enjoy the whole experience for as long as you want 🍴
