New Afternoon Tea Set at Salt Grill & Sky Bar: A treat for mama!

Pounding the pavements of Orchard Road takes some serious stamina plus a healthy dose of patience if you are doing so with ankle biters under foot. So what better way to rest and refuel than by heading skywards mama? Perched on the 55th floor of ION Orchard, Salt Grill & Sky Bar is the newest spot in town to offer a decadent afternoon tea set, and with breath taking views of Singapore, it ranks high on our list for a quiet teatime treat — both with kids and without!

Curated by newly appointed Executive Chef Mathew Leighton (trained under the famous Australian chef, Luke Mangan) their simple but scrummy afternoon tea is served on an elegant three-tiered silver stand and is brimming with an assortment of sweet and savoury treats. On the afternoon that we dropped by, we were treated to mini goodies like Smoked Salmon, Cucumber, Chive, and Crème Cheese on Rye, Ham and Turkey Croque Madame, and teeny tiny Coronation Chicken Sandwiches. This row of savoury treats was accompanied by a selection of mouth watering sweet treats, with “Pâtes de fruits” (fruit jellies) and cute Raspberry Macarons topping our must-taste list… not to mention the scones with jam and cream (not the best ones we’ve tasted we’re afraid, but we tend to be quite fussy when it comes to this British classic).

Accompanying our mid-afternoon meal was the choice of tea or coffee (naturally, we opted for a pretty cup of freshly brewed tea) and the option to “upgrade” to a glass of champagne (definitely recommended if you’re looking to really unwind). While we left our kiddos at home, the cavernous space — there is plenty of space for babes in strollers — and friendly staff make it a nice place to visit if you want to spoil your offspring. And if your kiddos don’t fancy sweet treats, you can always order them a meal from the children’s menu before sending them off to peer through the viewfinder at the stunning views over Singapore.

So if you’re looking for a midday indulgence, are planning a mama’s day out or just want to entertain out-of-towners, than this is the afternoon tea to experience. Modern surrounds, crisp white linen and one of the best views over central S’pore we’ve ever seen is sure to impress!

The afternoon tea set is available daily from 2pm to 5pm and is priced at $30++ per person (inclusive of tea or coffee) or $40++ per person (inclusive of a glass of Champagne).
