Need a little time out for yourself mama, but don’t want it to cost the earth to have you leave the Little Red Dot? Park Regis Singapore at Clarke Quay offered us a perfect solution – a mama-only staycation!

For my fellow Aussies who might be missing home, the newly renovated Park Regis (it’s an Australian brand) is launching a brand new “Australian heritage”-themed package, called ‘Comeback to Sunrise and Sunset’. From the moment you arrive to the foyer with its funky bar and Aboriginal artwork, until you enter your spacious, private room, a one-night holiday with the comfort of Australian hospitality ticked all this mama’s boxes. A huge, cosy bed; the TV to myself; and a gorgeous pool where I could swim lengths or just float and gaze at the sky without worrying about what the littlies are up to — what’s not to love?

I was greeted on arrival with a ‘Sunset’ mocktail, which was as delicious as it was beautiful. The bartenders on hand were even offering fun cocktail-making classes on how to recreate this specialty drink, and already I felt myself beginning to relax.

After a quick swim, the sun was beginning to set. My usual routine of kid dinners, bath and bedtime was far from my mind as I watched the city lights begin to twinkle. The Park Regis is located centrally in Clarke Quay, surrounded by some of Singapore’s best nightlife.

Also at the doorstep is the River boat stop, perfect for a Sunset River Cruise. Lucky me, there was a voucher for this included in the ‘Comeback’ package!

All these adventures were making me hungry, and there was no shortage of choice. At the lively new all-day dining restaurant, Twenty3 Drink & Dine, hotel guests who book the Comeback package can enjoy a 23% discount on all a la carte menus. You can also flash your room card at various surrounding cafes, bars and restaurants in Clarke and Boat Quays for special discounts. As I was enjoying the serenity of having my own private space for the first time in years, I opted for a little room service!

Room service is a treat, with Aussie favourites like the delicious Beef Burger and Chicken Club sandwich on the menu. Coupled with a chilled glass of Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay from the mini bar you’re well on the way to a cheeky solo dinner, without having to leave the comfort of your room (or get out of your cosy hotel robe!).

A quick text to the family to make sure carnage wasn’t ensuing in my absence (not that there was much to be done if there was), I tucked up solo in the fresh, crisp bedsheets, read a few pages of a magazine, and had a lovely, unbroken rest, the whole night through! I didn’t even need my wake-up call, as the sunlight peeking through the curtains was enough to coax me out of bed and to the poolside for a spot of dawn yoga. There’s something special about waking up in a big bed and greeting the day with peace and calm.

Park Regis Singapore

And what would a staycation be without a buffet breakfast?! Park Regis Singapore did not disappoint. First, the lovely Ember created a delicious “Sunrise” mocktail for me, another refreshing creation laced with pineapple, carrot and orange juice. Finished with a slice of orange that reminded me of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, I felt right at home. A huge selection of cereals, homemade granola, eggs any style, Asian delights, an array of fresh fruits and juices, and omelettes made to order all needed to be sampled. I ate myself silly, and I didn’t have to share with anyone!

As breakfast came to a close, I was feeling refreshed, relaxed and at ease. A staycation also gave me something precious — a chance to miss my children, and for them to miss me.

A mama-only staycation that didn’t cost the earth and provided some much-needed alone time. Just like the Boomerang, the warm hospitality of the Park Regis Singapore will keep you coming back again and again, mama!

“Sunrise and Sunset” package starts from $290 per night and includes a Sunset River Cruise and either Sunrise yoga or cocktail-making class (depending on dates). Click here for more information.
