GESS pioneers STEM education as the first school outside Europe to offer the Junior Engineer Academy programme in partnership with a top university for engineering sciences
Got a kiddo who loves their STEM? GESS is making waves on the STEM education scene by giving students as young as 13 the chance to further develop their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics thanks to its new partnership with the Technical University of Munich Asia (TUM Asia). Best known for their engineering sciences programmes (German engineering is kind of a big deal, after all), TUM Asia will connect GESS students with industry experts, researchers and thinkers to give them the chance to learn beyond the classroom.
You may know GESS as one of the best international schools in Singapore offering the choice between the English IB Curriculum and the German Curriculum, but did you know it’s also the first school outside of Europe to offer the Junior Engineer Academy programme? As part of this landmark STEM education programme, GESS collaborates with universities and engineering companies to expose students to engineering problems and encourage seeking out viable solutions in real-life contexts. They’ll even be given access to materials and equipment used by industry pros!
The experience aims to leave an impact on students even after graduation — they’ll get to build connections with and gain plenty of insight from industry professionals to make informed decisions on universities and courses. So far, the Junior Engineer Academy programme has allowed students gifted in the engineering fields to explore their interests in collaboration with partners like BOSCH, Pepperl+Fuchs and XentiQ (all industry giants!).
GESS’s world-class, purpose-built campus is perfect for hosting a programme like the Junior Engineer Academy. With its state-of-the-art facilities, the school gives students many opportunities to develop their talents while actively cultivating STEM development. And perhaps eventually to pursue a career in a STEM field! GESS and TUM Asia are in talks to arrange internship placements for talented young students to further their STEM education at the university, while encouraging them to pursue their higher education studies in leading technical universities as well.
