Ever tried a juice cleanse, mama? While the concept of “detoxing” has mostly been debunked (turns out the liver and kidneys can handle this function just fine on their own), there are tangible benefits that can be gained from ingesting all the vitamins and minerals derived from lots of healthy fruits and veggies – which is precisely what you can get on a juice cleanse.
It can also be a nice way to lose some weight – though it’s probably not sustainable. And plenty of people swear by juice cleanses as a way to “reset the system”, abstaining from bad stuff like caffeine, sugar and various artificial ingredients so as to prime the body for a healthier diet going forward.
Cleanses can start at just 1 day, but 3 days seems to be the most popular duration (juicing pros can go for 5 days or even a week at a time!). Generally you will drink six bottles of juice throughout the day. Typically you might feel ok on the first day, pretty crappy on the second day, but then by the third you’ll turn a corner and will start to feel a-mah-zing, mama.
