Huber’s is a family business that opened their first shop on Dempsey Hill in 2009 (they expanded to a gorgeous new 13,000-square feet location last fall). Papa Ernst Huber, a native of Switzerland, has decades’ of experience in cooking and restaurants (he was the first honorary President of the Singapore Chefs Association). In short, he knows his food, and oversees the shop’s outstanding meat program.

Over 90% of Huber’s meats and meat products are growth hormone-free. That is a truly amazing statistic, mama! With everything from Japanese Wagyu, to Tasmanian Angus grass-fed Beef, to premium antibiotic-free chicken sourced locally from Malaysia, it’s all super high-quality. Unlike the stuff from the supermarket, there’s no question of where this meat comes from, as the walls of the shop are actually lined with the details of Huber’s meat providers from around the world — many of them family farms.

Not only are there knowledgeable, friendly butchers behind the counters who are always willing to answer questions, they also provide handy services like free marinating and vacuum sealing. There’s no need to worry about how the sausage gets made here, mama – it’s all made in-house, and is all-natural with no fillers or added MSG. And, by the way, it’s all totally delicious!

But Huber’s really is about so much more than just meat. They’ve got one of the largest cheese selections in Singapore, with over 100 varieties sourced from around the world, including Switzerland (of course!), France, Italy, Germany, the UK and Australia. And naturally they’ve got all the fixings to complement that cheese, from fondue accessories, to gourmet crackers, to a beautiful selection of European wines and beers. Oh, and they offer free samples on the weekends. Once again – SCORE!

They’re also the exclusive provider of all sorts of boutique brands from Europe and Australia, covering everything from artisanal chocolates to organic milk and granola. The amazing Barbecue corner is stocked with a wide variety of charcoals, tongs, and even grills. Then just around the corner you’ve got a gorgeous cornucopia of fresh fruits and vegetables, flown in fresh from Australia, and at great prices to boot!

Once you’re done shopping up a storm, mama, you can recharge at Huber’s yummy Bistro, which serves up a bevy of delicious sausages, cured meats, steaks, and of course European beers and wines to wash it all down. And all the while kiddos can play at the amazing adjacent fenced-in playground (though take it from us, your children will not want to leave!).
