Looking for a new family-friendly brunch, mama? We were delighted to discover the fuss-free vibe of Sandbank at East Coast Park.
It’s no secret that we loooove ourselves some brunch at Sassy Mama Singapore, but to be honest great brunch places are not exactly distributed evenly around the island. Hotspots like Dempsey, Bukit Timah and Sentosa seem to be lousy with choices, while out on the East Coast it can actually be pretty tough finding decent places open before 10am.
I was particularly chuffed, then, to find out about the new weekend brunch buffet at Sandbank in East Coast Park. Who doesn’t want their breakfast served up with a side of lovely sea views?
There’s much to love about the buffet: for one, it starts from 8:30am, perfect for early risers (as most kiddos naturally seem to be!). Also on the kid front, children ages 4 to 12 pay just $9.50 nett for all-you-can-eat, while little ones under 4 eat FREE! This has seriously got to be one of the best value brunches in Singapore – even adults are only $19 per person, and that includes free-flow coffee, tea and juices!
When I arrived with my husband, mother and toddler in tow, I was impressed by how warmly we were greeted by the friendly staff, then immediately shown to our table. The vibe is completely relaxed, with plenty of highchairs to go around along with kid-friendly plates and cutlery. No one seem bothered that my toddler wanted to run back and forth between our table and the buffet. The windows open onto a deck that in turn spills onto a wide expanse of green lawn overlooking the park — the perfect place for little ones to expend some energy either pre- or post-meal.
The variety of cuisines on offer was impressive for a small buffet, with Western staples like sausages and pancakes (along with omelets made to order), Asian faves like pork buns and noodles, and Indian options like prata and chicken curry.
The curry had a really nice spicy kick to it – this was definitely not bland buffet food. The bacon could have been crispier, and I was disappointed that the omelets featured powdered cheese, but overall I’d rate it a solid buffet. I was also pleased by the wide array of fresh fruits and veggies, perfect for nibbling and robust enough to make a hearty salad.
So if you live on the East Coast (or want an excuse to visit East Coast Park) and wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning wanting to skip the kitchen, give Sandbank a try, mama. It’s family-friendly, fuss-free, and great value for money.
