This is what a day at ESPA at Resorts World Sentosa feels like

I was treated to an afternoon of indulgent spa treatments at ESPA; here’s how you can do the same, mama!

I’m not gonna lie, mamas, sometimes my job as Senior Editor of Sassy Mama can be pretty tough. The hours are surprisingly long, we work on tight deadlines, and there always seems to be a new problem cropping up that demands my attention (sounds a lot like motherhood, actually!).

Of course there’s much to love about the job as well, and ranking near the top of the list is that I get to personally try out a lot of the goods and services that mamas in Singapore want to know about. I may have reached a new apex a couple weeks ago when I indulged in an afternoon of pampering at ESPA at Resorts World Sentosa, a truly transporting experience (seriously, I felt like I was on another planet from the daily hubub of Singapore) that we will now be giving away to one lucky Sassy Mama reader and two friends! I can’t think of a more deserving group of recipients.

Here’s what we’re giving away to one lucky mama and two of her even luckier friends (worth $812 in total):

  • Choice of a 60-minute Personalised Massage OR 60-minute Facial per person
  • Afternoon Tea for three at Tangerine Restaurant
  • Complimentary usage of a shared Garden Suite
  • Full-day access to ESPA’s facilities (including the gym, onsen pools, steam rooms and more)

With 10,000 square metres of leisure space tucked away on a lush little corner of Sentosa, award-winning ESPA totally lives up to its billing as “an oasis of tranquility”. Between its gorgeous beach and garden villas and the peaceful lily pond that sits in the middle of the property, you truly feel like you’re at some far-flung spa retreat, not a mere 15 minutes from the CBD!

Given that this is ESPA’s Asian flagship, the experienced and expert staff is trained in a wide variety of naturally-based therapies that combine the most effective techniques and products from ESPA in the UK. Before methodically working out the kinks on my stressed-and-hunched shoulders, my massage therapist presented me with a selection of essential oils to suit my mood. Once I’d made my choice and was lying face down on the table, she placed it in a diffuser on the floor below, so that I almost felt like I was inhaling the relaxation. It was a sensory experience I’ve never had before in my fairly extensive spa history.

By the way, OMG are the garden villas amazing! I was whisked to my treatment area by buggy from the main lobby, and upon entering nearly fell over from all the space. Is this really all for me?, I wanted to ask, as I was truly gobsmacked by the separate changing area, luxurious bathroom, tranquil indoor/outdoor seating area overlooking a garden, and the treatment room itself – all done up in dark woods with subtle lighting and elegant marble touches. I fell asleep during my massage, and would have loved to have just kept napping, but there were other amenities to try out back at the main area (you’re welcome to hang out and relax, though, mama!).

Where to begin with the facilities? ESPA has the first authentic Turkish Hammam in Singapore (it’s gorgeous), along with a Crystal Steam Room where chocolate and gold mosaics shimmer alongside amethyst crystals, which are placed for balancing and healing. Rest your weary bones in the Rock Sauna, then cool off at the Ice Fountain. Meanwhile, the Experience Showers provide a “hydro-massage” with six body jets and an overhead shower that provide top-to-toe invigoration.

For mamas who really need a break, ESPA even offers a truly amazing Sleep Zone where you can recline in cosy little cocoon-like pods following your treatment. If I’d had more time, I absolutely would have retreated here after my soporific massage. Not that I’m complaining – I also got to try out the delicious spa cuisine at Tangerine, which features a vibrant and zesty menu designed by celebrity Thai Chef Ian Kittichai.

My favourites, though, were the Outdoor Vitality Pools and the Forest Onsen-style Pools. Just be sure to bring your bathing suit, mama! I forgot mine and while the staff kindly gave me a “disposable swimsuit” to wear, I would have been a lot less self-conscious (and surely would have stayed longer) in my own swimsuit. Anyway, as I mentioned on Instagram, relaxing in the Onsen–style pool really made it easy to forget I was in Singapore: all I could see was forest, and all I could hear was the delicate trickling of the waterfall mixed with birdsong. No toddler cries, no barking dog, no honking horns. Pure bliss!

If you really want to make a day of it, mama, you can even stop off at the Finishing Studio by the main reception lobby to get a manicure, pedicure, or even quick shoulder massage. Given that they also service signature martinis and refreshments, this would be super fun for a mama get-together!

So are you tantalized or what, mama? For your chance to win this amazing (and well-deserved!) spa getaway, just enter your deets in the form below. Get ready to be transported to your happy place!
