For me, the best ‘self-help’ books are those that not only inform and inspire you, but also keep you entertained. And bonus points go to ones that have you chuckling to yourself as you travel the road to a better you. Our recent discovery? The Smart Girl’s Handbook to Being Mummylicious by über-glam Singapore gal (and mama of four!) Christine Amour-Levar, does just that and then some.
Packed with tips and tricks to help you get your body – and also importantly your groove – back post-baby, Mummylicious is all about embracing motherhood and being the best mom you can be, without losing your unique sense of self. The tone of the book is like that of your best girlfriend sharing her experience and advice – covering everything from breastfeeding tips, exercise options, dieting ideas and of course how to find the will to lose weight, the desire to dress-up, as well as the motivation to continue cultivating your mind – all of which can be a brutal uphill battle as we each known all too well.
Fortunately for us, the Singapore-based ex-Nike executive, writer and fashion retail entrepreneur (she opened Singapore’s first and only Brazilian multi-brand fashion boutique, Beijaflor) has been there, done that. Indeed, this Sassy Mama knows more than a thing or two about embracing motherhood while not losing sight of you.
The Smart Girl’s Handbook to Being Mummylicious is available at most English language bookstores in Singapore, including Kino Kuniya, or you can pick it up on the book’s own website.
