That’s the annual Chingay Parade, which is hailed for being one of the most extravagant Chinese New Year events in Singapore. It’s a spectacle that’ll delight the kids, especially if you’re looking to immerse them in a meaningful cultural event. What is Chingay?

The word “chingay” comes from Hokkien and refers to the art of costume and masquerade. Chingay parade started in 1973 as a part of Chinese New Year celebrations in a street parade along Jalan Besar. From 1977, Indian and Malay performers joined in the fun and today it’s evolved into an celebration of Singapore’s unique cultural diversity. Residents and international participants from every ethnic background join in the festivities.
Full of energy and colour, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate and educate our kids about the various cultures around us. With a spectacular display of floats, cultural performances and grand props, it’s a dazzling crowd-pleasing event.
Planning and preparation for each year’s parade takes up to 12 months, and it takes thousands of volunteers from all over Singapore to pull it off–it is truly a national community-wide event. There are even international performances from around Asia.
The theme of Chingay Parade 2026 is ‘Wish’ and will showcase Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage through the collective aspirations of more than 3,000 performers. As you witness the remarkable spectacle of collaboration that unites people from all backgrounds, you will be invited to make your wishes for 2026 with Chingay!
When and where is Chingay Parade 2026 taking place?

Chingay 2026 will take place on 27 and 28 February 2026 from 8pm to 9:30pm at the F1 Pit Building.

Entrance is free for lap-sitting children aged 2 and under. PAssion Card Members enjoy an Early Bird 30% discount on standard ticket prices from 10 December 2025 to 11 January 2026. After the Early Bird, PAssion card members receive a 20% discount on tickets from 12 January 2026 onwards.
What’s happening at the Chingay Parade 2026

As part of the parade, there will be a Culinary Extravaganza with food-inspired floats, costumes and PAssionArts installations that spotlight Singapore’s favourite pastime: eating great food.
This year, you can look forward to five magnificent floats, the largest community collaboration in the history of Chingay Parade. Created by 5,000 residents from five districts across the island, the floats for Chingay Parade 2026 feature art by local artists and residents.
At this 90-minute performance, you will witness dazzling expressions of people’s deepest wishes, dreams and aspirations. Look forward to eight acts, four of which will be inspired by local ethnic festivals, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Deepavali and Hari Raya, and discover the common values and joy that unite racial communities.
More than 3,000 performers are already practising their moves for the Grand Spectacle. It will be a great time of family-friendly fun! Each year, the Chingay Parade has also been known to have fireworks, so it’ll be an extravaganza to remember.
How to get to Chingay Parade 2026?

There will be road closures around the F1 Pit in the hours leading up to the parade.
We recommend taking public transport and walking from the station to the F1 pit. The nearest MRT stations are Bayfront, Esplanade, City Hall and Promenade.
The nearest drop-off point for taxis will be at Millenia Walk. Wear comfy walking shoes and be prepared for a bag check for security purposes.
