Celebrate Helper Appreciation Month in May With Sassy Mama

We encourage families to think of ways big and small to say thank you to your helper this May – Helper Appreciation Month

May is Helper Appreciation Month in Singapore. This celebration of helpers in Singapore is something we at Sassy Mama fully support. The idea for celebrating helpers throughout the month of May began in Hong Kong, where resident Steve Chitty pointed out the month is a natural fit given that it encompasses Labour Day, Mother’s Day and the International Day of Families. Since we began with a one-day celebration and awards ceremony in 2016 to say thank you to helpers and recognise all the amazing ways they support our families, the celebration evolved from large events to show helpers how much we appreciate them to small gestures like holding a Giveaway of a Balikbayan Box with MHM Global.

Here’s how we began to celebrate and recognise helpers’ crucial contributions to our families plus scroll for lots of helpful resources for your helper from further education opportunities to Gift Ideas to show your gratitude and appreciation for all your helper’s hard work.

Plus, find out how you can help your domestic worker access basic financial knowledge and education to support her family, plan for her future and retirement, and ensure she avoids common hazards like loan sharks. Click through for information on courses, and to find out more about small business success stories from AIDHA in Singapore.

From the top maid agencies in Singapore to tips on on-boarding a new helper or preparing your children to say goodbye to your helper, we hear from experts covering all your helper-related questions.

PS: Save the Emergency Contact Card and share it with your helper and friends.

Help your helper have fun on her day off with our roundup of clubs, hobbies, and activities for helpers in Singapore!

The struggle to achieve a work/life balance is real for all of us! But when you work 6 days a week (and live at your workplace) it can be even tougher. Making time for fun can make a big difference to the rest of the week, whether it’s getting some exercise, indulging a creative side, joining a club or getting together with friends. Make sure your helper knows what’s on offer for her in her spare time and on her day off.

Sassy Mama is dedicated to celebrating ALL mothers and families. Here’s how we began to celebrate and recognise helpers’ crucial contributions to our families:

We began with a Helper Appreciation party began back in 2016 recognising helpers for special achievements in childcare, cooking and looking after pets.
