The weather is hot and the kids need a good run around but don’t feel like spending all morning (and your hard-earned dollars!) in a strip-lit play room? (um, always mamas, right?)

Want a good coffee and a place the kids can get a bit wet?

Sounds like the water play area at 112 Katong is the place to be!

The new 112 Katong Shopping Mall near Marine Parade on the East Coast has a brilliant free water play area for children. Two hours of solid water play and I still struggled to drag my son away he was having that much fun.

Located on the roof (level 4) of the old Katong Mall, this waterplay area will set your water loving child’s heart a flutter. Complete with wet slide, fountains, swings, water showers and huge buckets that dump water on the ground, this is one waterplay area that has something for everyone. Nice finishing touches include a huge space (perfect for running around) with rubber floors (no slipping) and it is strategically placed so that until midday the area is shaded (no sunburn!).

Mamas can get a coffee and cupcake from Gastronomia on Level B1 before heading upstairs to let the kids play. There are toilets located inside on level 4 and a Food Republic food court if the kids are hankering for a bit of lunch after a morning on the wet playground.

It might be a bit of a trek for those living on the Western side of Singapore but certainly one I would make again for a fun morning out with my toddler.

All this exploring – combined with her moderate addiction for online media – lead to the Little Notebook blog, Sarah’s very own corner of the web, where she shares her ideas for enjoying family life in Singapore.
