Sassy Mama is thrilled to support the upcoming HeForShe Impact Awards, which are all about promoting gender equality in our community. Here’s how you can nominate people!
Whether in the workplace, at home, or out and about in Singapore, is there a man or woman who’s made a difference in your life, mama? Consider nominating him or her for the inaugural HeForShe Impact Awards, an exciting new initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women.
Inspired by the HeForShe Campaign, which UN Ambassador Emma Watson launched in 2014 as a global solidarity movement for gender equality, the awards seek to recognise men and women that are active promoters of gender equality in the workplace and at home.
Perhaps your company has made sure to enact family-friendly policies in the office, or the manager of your favourite restaurant has created a pro-breastfeeding environment. Whatever it is, these awards are meant to recognise individuals who have taken inspiring steps through their everyday actions that result in positive change for the community. There’s even a category for deserving spouses and partners!
The awards will be broken down into five categories:
1. HeForShe Everyday Hero (nominations for male individuals only)
This HeForShe embodies UN Women values on diversity and inclusion. He is involved in and has demonstrated these values within his community.
2. HeForShe Leader (nominations for male individuals only)
This HeForShe has influenced and made significant contributions to workplace policies that encourage diversity and inclusion. He is an active promoter of equal opportunity and has a history of championing for gender equality.
3. [email protected] (nominations for companies only)
This category calls for nominations of companies that hold their male employees accountable for gender equality and inclusion; have a balanced leadership team; and, equal representation on diversity committees (or similar) and gender-neutral hiring practices.
4. HeForShe Influencer (nominations for female individuals only)
This individual has actively involved men in the movement for gender equality either within the workplace or local community.
5. Husband/ Partner of the Year (nominations for individuals only)
This lighthearted category calls for nominations from those who would like to recognise their husband/ partner for championing their rights and empowerment at work or within the local community.
Nominations will close on 30 March, 2016 mama so get them in ASAP (click here to fill out the nomination form)! Winners will be announced in April at an event celebrating the community achievements of these remarkable individuals and organisations.
