Small but mighty, Cluny Court is filled with fab boutiques, yummy eateries, and kid-friendly amenities (not to mention a 24-hour Cold Storage!)

Bukit Timah mamas like to keep Cluny Court as a bit of a closely-guarded secret — this mini-mall is too cute to keep whispering about though, we want to shout about how fab it is! A little heaven for indie businesses and filled to the brim with mama-preneurs, we like to hit up Cluny Court on a rainy afternoon with tiny ones who can be easily bought off with a cupcake while we browse the stores… Here’s our Top 12 in Cluny (we found it too hard to narrow it down to our usual 10!)…photo (82)Abrakadoodle

NB: Abrakadoodle is now located right next door, at Serene Centre! Budding Picassos will love Abrakadoodle’s little art studio which hosts parties, classes and fab holiday camps. We’re huge fans because the creative mess stays in a controlled environment (i.e. not your apartment!). Drop-off camps and classes start from 3 years old, but mama can get bring along little ones from 20 months old for some painting or doodling fun!

Stop in for lunch or an early dinner with the kiddos at this casual bar-cum-restaurant and order from their extensive menu of Western, Thai and Indian dishes (they do have a small kid’s menu although we find it more fun to order a few plates to share with the fam). Staff are friendly with the littlies (Bar Bar is a huge magnet for families, especially on weekends) and serve the drinks so quickly you’ll be indulging in a much needed glass of sauv blanc in no time at all.

This bite-sized little home décor store is full of gorgeous little finishing touches for your home, from shells and sand dollars, to blue and white pottery and lovely textiles. We’re coveting their lamps, wicker trays and neon-accented artworks… Everything in fact! Perfect if you’re searching for a gift for a house-proud mama as it’s the very height of good taste.

There’s rather a dearth of decent lingerie shops in Singapore, but Change are aiming to remedy the wrong! If you’ve got bigger baps (they stock up to a K cup), you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the choice on offer, and there’s even swimwear in bigger bust sizes here too. They’ll even give you a professional fitting to make sure you’re actually looking for the right size. Hurrah!

Open 10am – 6pm Monday to Saturday (but we’ve spotted them open on a Sunday too!)

This little hole in the wall shop carries freshly squeezed juices made with health in mind. EGA (Age backwards, as in reverse ageing) is Ayurvedic-based. Pop in for a body type consultation or just for a cold pressed juice like ‘Sunshine’ (250ml $8.50) of Orange Turmeric and Ginger, or some cold pressed Vanilla Coffee ($8.50). They also do a number of yummy green juices, Turmeric Lattes (of turmeric, homemade almond milk and soy) to boost your immune system, plus take-home goodies of Turmeric Drink mix or ‘medicinal’ quality coconut oil.EllaElly

With its mix of super-wearable, practical but cute kids clothes, Elly is definitely worth popping into for a browse. We love the brightly coloured chevron dresses they’ve got in for little girls at the mo, and their mini cotton cheong sams are fab for special occasions. As well as outfitting your littles, they’ve also got a small selection of quirky soft toys and gorgeous (but pricey) play tents.

Open Monday – Sunday 10am – 6pm

Helmed by Valérie Oriol and Séverine de Lageard, the home accessories on offer here are truly sublime. The collections here are inspired by the principle of the five Feng Shui elements: metal, glass, linen, light and basic (bamboo). Simple, uncomplicated and elegant, expect to find a blend of Asian and Western pieces to tempt you. We only wish their shop was bigger!

Firefly
02-24 Cluny Court, 501 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore
Tel: (+65) 6464 6028
Website

We have to admit, as Singapore mamas we pull out the “mummy shorts” a little too often, despite our best efforts at remaining stylish in the heat. Thankfully Oz brand Firefly is here to help us elevate our fashion choices with their great selection of breezy, cotton dresses and cover-ups in all kinds of bright colours and prints. We love how you can wear all their pieces with flip flops for stomping ’round town with the kiddos in tow, then swap flip flops for wedges for a night out. Best of all, Firefly is super-affordable. We might just be in love.

The Fishwives

Tel: (+65) 6464 8384
Website

Importing fresh fish and pasture-fed meats from New Zealand, The Fishwives is handy for mamas who are concerned about what’s going into their family’s tummies (so that’d be all of us basically). Place your order online and wait for the next shipment to hit our shores. You can either collect yourself, or pay an extra $10 for home delivery. The lovely little gourmet emporium at Cluny Court features everything from gourmet olive oils, to fresh juices, to pastries from Tiong Bahru Bakery. Yum!

Hanna Lee Accessories already have a devoted following here in Singapore with their lust-worthy jewelry from the US and Europe; but did you know they first launched their brand in the ever-so-very-stylish St John’s Wood High Street in London?  Luckily for mamas living here, Hayley Grobman brought her expertise in curating to-die-for jewelry here to Singapore in 2008 and their shops (there’s one in Tanglin Mall too) are definitely the one to-go-to if you are looking for something special and on-trend as a gift or for yourself!

This is a new Sassy Mama discovery, and we’re rather in love. If you’re a bit bored of your usual high street options, but can’t face designer prices, Rosalie Pompon is going to be your new best friend — filled with chic but casual pieces from French labels like Majestic, Bensimon, American Vintage, BelleRose and Aquaverde, you can channel your inner Parisienne! Pick up fun, stylish jewellery from Hipanema and bags and clutches from Nilai. The friendly owner will help you if you’re struggling with your style. This is hands down one of the best boutiques in Sing — do not miss!

Simone Irani
#02-17 Cluny Court, 501 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 259760
Website

In the land that feels like it’s always summer, the Simone Irani collection of chic resortwear (sourced from India) is coming very soon to #02-17!  For those who have yet to come across the extensive selection of fashionable kaftans or dresses, get ready to FALL IN LOVE – don’t be surprised if you end up buying more than one dress (Sassy Mama Michelle bought FOUR! GULP!)!

Honorable mentions: We love Babyzoo, Da Paolo’s Gastronomia, Simply Bread, Relish and the other fab jewellery and homestores at Cluny Court – we just couldn’t fit in all our faves! We’d also be remiss if we didn’t mention that there’s a Cold Storage there…

How to get there: Cluny Court is right opposite the Botanic Gardens MRT, or you can taxi (if the driver is confused, tell him it’s right next to the French Consulate and that should help!). There is also parking available, but be warned, it’s one of those very “tight” car parks where you really need to be confident you know the exact width of your car.
