SKINNYPIZZA_DCG

Inconspicuously located on the third floor of Great World City, Skinny Pizza is so much more than just a regular run-of-the-mill pizza joint — it’s about fresh, healthy produce pilled on top of wafer thin pizza bases, and they’ve recently launched a new kids’ menu* that is brimming with healthier meal choices for the wee ones (no deep fried nuggets here!). Perfect for little kids and big kids at heart, this River Valley gem is a great foodie pit-stop when you’re tired of trawling the aisles of MothersWork and need a little bit of sustenance to keep you (and the kiddos) going.

Thumbs Up:
It doesn’t take a whole lot to make this mama happy, and the kids’ menu ticked all the right boxes for healthy, tasty and affordable food options for our mini foodies. Chilled staff brought out the colouring sheets and crayons the minute we walked in — big blank “pizzas” for the kids to colour in — and were happy to provide plastic plates and cutlery for the smallest diners. The regular menu is packed with tasty pizza and pasta options for the ‘rents and the coffee was surprisingly drinkable (often not the case!). Although it feels a tad odd dining right in the middle of the shopping centre, it’s got a nice relaxed vibe about it that makes it perfect for a quick weekend bite.

Thumbs Down:
It might sound kind of like nit picking but its location opposite a couple of children’s toy stores meant we were subjected to a bit of nagging from our sprogs to go and play. Luckily (or cleverly) the big toy store directly opposite has a children’s toy table set up and were happy for the kids to linger. There’s also no on-site bathrooms, and it’s a little bit of stroll to the nearest toilets (although they are well equipped with baby change facilities!).

Highchairs:
Yes! The fabbo Ikea ones that mamas everywhere adore.

Stroller Access:
Absolutely! Take the lift up from the ground floor and you’re there — no stairs and no escalators to deal with here mama! You will however need to leave your stroller at the door of the resto, as there isn’t much room to park them inside.

How much:
Items on the kids’ menu start from $10 for the creamy Breakfast Bake, $12 for the Mac & Cheese, and up to $14 for the Fish and Chip Sliders. All kids’ meals come with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice served in old-school milk bottles and funky straws… our 4 year old couldn’t get enough!
