Nailing it: Mani-Pedis at Thumbelina Nail Lounge

On the hunt for a new nail salon mama? We discover Thumbelina Nail Lounge is equally great for mamas and kids

On the advice of our friends at GetKlarity, the Sassy Media Group team in Singapore recently went for some team bonding manicures and pedicures at the super-cute Thumbelina Nail Lounge in Bukit Timah.

Located on the second floor of a tidy little shophouse just between Coronation Plaza and Hwa Chong Institution, Thumbelina features multiple treatment rooms, including a bright and airy salon with big windows overlooking Bukit Timah Road.

The salon not only offers the full range of colours from nail salon staple OPI, but it’s also the only nail salon in Singapore to feature luxurious Chanel Le Vernis polishes, along with a nice range of colours from Butter London, a fashion week staple. We love that both are available at no extra cost! They’ve also got Shellac on hand for those wanting to go the more permanent Gelish route.

Rather than present our colour options on the same old ratty ring of mini-nails, we received gorgeous hardcover books that displayed all of the colour options in a much more orderly manner. It felt like a sophisticated step up from the usual nail salon experience.

In addition to a range of teas on offer, the team at Thumbelina also helpfully served us some Champagne and chocolates that we’d brought along. It’s no wonder that they’re massively popular for events like hens’ parties and little girl birthday parties. In fact, on a daily basis they also offer yummy baked goods, and will even deliver you delicious takeaway from Sassy Mama-fave The Missing Pan, which is located right downstairs! Take it from us, mamas, it’s easy to spend a full afternoon chilling out in this uber-cosy spot.

It goes without saying that each of our nail technicians did a fabulous job. There was no rushing or lackluster scrubbing; rather each was precise with her polishing and made sure to get our nails in tip-top condition beforehand. I’m not gonna lie when I say that’s no easy feet – sorry, feat! – with my mangled toes! (NB: Not my toes pictured above, but they do look just as pretty).

Thumbelina’s co-owner, Grace, was on hand throughout, as was her super adorable dog, Thumbelina’s mascot Bambi. It actually felt more like we were hanging out at a friend’s house than anything.

So whether you’re looking for a spot to pamper yourself, to bond with your child, or to organise a fun group party, Thumbelina is your place, mama. Sassy Mama happily gives them two [very pretty] thumbs up!
