Green LivingPost Category - Green LivingGreen LivingLearnPost Category - LearnLearn

Want to learn more about panda conservation? Support these magnificent, endangered animals and teach kiddos all about them during ‘Panda Month’ in Singapore!

Is there anything cuter than a panda, mama? Jia Jia and Kai Kai are two of Singapore’s most high-profile residents, with their every move (romantic and otherwise) breathlessly tracked by the local media. We personally can’t get enough of panda photos, which is why we were so excited to hear about the newly launched book I am a Giant Panda, written and photographed by Dr. Zhang Zhihe, Director of the world-famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.

A leading panda conservation specialist, esteemed biologist and certainly one of the world’s pre-eminent experts on giant pandas, Dr. Zhang launched his new book locally at One Farrer Hotel & Spa, which itself has been a champion of panda conservation (‘Saving Pandas’-themed plush toys are already among the top sellers at the hotel’s ‘Touch and Feel’ shop!).

I am a Giant Panda tracks the journey of a giant panda’s life, from birth through to maturity, with many breathtaking images of pandas in their native habitat that only an expert (and keen photographer) like Dr. Zhang could capture.

Panda Customised Cake

Throughout the month of October and into November, One Farrer staff will be sporting panda badges on their uniforms, while the in-house pastry chef has created a series of special panda-themed cookies and cakes (ideal for a child’s birthday party if we do say so ourselves!).

You’ll also be able to purchase copies of I am a Giant Panda, along with signed limited edition photos by Dr. Zhang, in addition to their popular panda plushies. We think the book is a wonderful way to introduce kiddos to the concept of animal conservation, and we’re pretty sure they’ll love looking at the gorgeous panda photos!
