Time to clean out that closet and look to next season, mamas. Donate your designer togs to UN Women’s ‘Style it Forward’ and raise money for a brilliant cause!
Need a compelling excuse to clean out your closet, mama? Why not help raise money for at-risk women and girls across the region? Sassy Mama is delighted to be working with the Singapore Committee for UN Women on the fabulous Style It Forward fashion event!
UN Women’s local campaigns are aimed at ending violence against women. Proceeds from the high-end designer sale will help provide solutions to the many obstacles holding women back from brighter futures. This is a cause us mamas need to support.
So what’s Style It Forward, then? It’s a bi-annual fashion event for all you super savvy mamas and a fashionista’s dream. Head down to the Hilton Hotel shopping arcade to donate pre-loved designer clothes (and accessories!) to a very worthy project – UN Women’s fundraising schemes – and a few days later these goods will be featured in the super popular Buy to Save sale at Forum the Shopping Mall. Maybe your DVF dress doesn’t fit quite right since you had a baby. Or perhaps you’re less enamored of the purple shade of that Marc Jacobs bag than you once were. Don’t be a hoarder, mama, let it go to a great cause!
Proceeds from this year’s sale will benefit a trio of worthy charities: the Singapore Committee for UN Women’s “Help Anna” initiatives, which aim to eliminate trafficking, explotiation and other forms of violence against women by tackling social, structural and economic obstacles; The Bamboo Project in Cambodia, which supports efficient social enterprise to benefit 70 women and their families; and a community-level response to an HIV outbreak in Cambodia’s rural Roka commune that provides women and girls living with HIV access to clean water and nutrition, along with livelihood development and education, to live healthy and empowered lives.
Past Style It Forward events have accrued over 4,000 topnotch fashion garments and accessories; which in turn has raised more than $200,000 for UN Women over the last five years. This has proven vital in helping to provide training to UN Women supporters and girls at risk of gender-based violence.
So if your cupboard could use a refresh, mama, don’t take up valuable closet space! Why not get a fresh start AND raise money for an important women’s project?
