Cotton On is the place to head to when you want seriously cheap activewear from sports bras, to crop tops, tanks, hoodies, and pants and tights. Nudge up the dollars and there’s the Cotton On Premium and COAR activewear ranges where the extra technology goes into compression and moisture wicking fabrics – exactly what we need here in sweaty Singers! Head to your nearest branch (they’re all over the island), or go online where there’s currently a mega sale on — we spotted racer tanks from as low as $10, crop tops from $15, and fitness pants at $15.
Uniqlo is another spot we head to when we just want the staple fitness gear at a good price, no nonsense. Simple seamless racerbacks from $29.90 and more fancy crossbra camisoles plus comfy gym t-shirts are all on offer here (search out one of their many stores to try on styles and sizes before you buy). Their AIRism fabric, has DRY and Cool Touch technology to wick away the sweat — look out for the AIRism leggings (currently on sale down from $29.90 to $19.90) and the AIRism hoodie – perfect for post hot yoga chills.
Under Armour was an early player on the moisture-wicking scene with their legendary Heat Gear, which keeps you cool and dry, even in the Singapore heat. We’re big fans of their leggings and sports bras – particularly in the new Vanish collection, which is super-silky, stretchy, and dries faster than ever without absorbing sweat – and also love their shorts, which actually have pockets (a rarity with women’s shorts, for some reason!). You can usually score some pretty sweet deals at their outlet, too.
Yes it’s a global behemoth, but there’s a reason for that. Their Nike Pro and Hypercool ranges are super comfortable and stand up well to Singapore’s tough conditions; our Nike Pro Combat compression shorts have survived two pregnancies and always see us through the toughest spinning classes. Occasionally the crop tights come in really cool patterns, too.
