Right, mamas. Next date night: sorted! Maybe it’s the end of a long day at work, or the end of a long day at home with the kids. And running errands. And doing chores. But come sunset, it’s time for a well-deserved glass (or two) with your man or favourite set of girlfriends. Equally perfect for a romantic evening or a fun night out, Match Restaurant and Lounge at the Pan Pacific Singapore is a chic new venue at which to unwind and chill.

Match focuses on Modern American cuisine and takes basic cues from a steakhouse. Guests choose their own sides and sauces to go with simply prepared proteins cooked to order. All proteins include a choice of a “dress me up” sauce, a “let’s get dirty” root vegetable, and an “accessorise me” accompaniment.

The a la carte menu boasts fine quality meats like Iberico Pork Collar, Lamb Cutlets, or the 300-day grain-fed Striploin, which can be charcoal-grilled or pan-roasted and paired with an assortment of sauces such as roasted Jalapeño Chimichurri or Morel Mushroom & Merlot.

Choose from delicious accompaniments like Caramelized Onion Tart, roasted Bone Marrow – brilliantly served in-bone – or the pan-roasted Duck Liver. If seafood is more your thing, Match pairs up mains such as Atlantic Cod, Striped Bass or Maine Lobster with inventive sauces like lobster & tarragon emulsion, Champagne caviar, or aromatic tomato broth.

Accompaniments include yummy Truffle Spinach Spaetzle, Squid Ink Risotto Cakes and Sea Urchin Flan. But if designing your own meal isn’t for you, opt for dishes like the Brick-Flattened Chicken or the bone-in 48-Hour Braised Beef Short Ribs.

The good news is that whatever you choose, chances are you’re going to love it. The better news is that Match’s 3-course set dinner menu is perfect if you’re just in the mood to relax and not have to make any hard decisions. Paired with cocktails or wine, it’s a steal at $75 per person, mamas!

The Lobster Medallion appetiser is absolutely stunning — think sweet succulent lobster-meets-French-butter, with dollops of Hollandaise. Paired with the “GCS Cocktail” – a refreshing concoction of Reyka Vodka, Sweet Vermouth and Carthusian Herbal Liquer with an orange peel twist – we found it set the scene for the evening ahead.

Also worth trying out is the next’s course’s cocktail, Hori Smoku: a blend of Sailor Jerry Rum, Orange Liqueur, Maraschino Liqueur, Ginger Beer, Yuzu, Togarashi, served in a cocktail glass laced with red chilli powder. Yes, you read right! But the sweet spicy brew perfectly complements the gorgeous Barramundi Ceviche, with lashings of shaved asparagus and pomegranate seeds. Or you can pair it with a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc, expertly paired together by Sommelier Claire, bringing out the best on both sides.

For mains, choose from either the Striped Bass (we recommend going with the signature Champagne caviar sauce and Squid Ink Risotto Cakes here, accompanied by Brussels sprouts and a nice glass of the Chablis), or go for the Angus Skirt Steak with the shallot & red wine sauce, roasted bone marrow and sautéed broccolini with almonds, paired perfectly with a glass of rich Merlot. Finally, make sure you leave a little space for the baked New York Cheesecake dessert, garnished with 3 different toppings – caramel popcorn, dark cherry coulis and a hard pistachio toffee. More, please!

Match is conveniently located at Pan Pacific Singapore in the Marina District. With access to the famous Bang Bang Club next door, late night diners can expect to be treated to some of Singapore’s top DJs playing everything from nu-disco, friendly and vocal deep house, and electric lounge to keep the vibe going. But if you’re just in the mood for drinks, the bustling bar scene serves up classic American cocktails and craft spirits — not to mention moreish bar snacks like a New York-style Pretzel with Beer Cheddar Fondue or “Assorted Skins” (chicharon, fish skins, and chicken skins).

We left Match feeling sated and invigorated by the unique and creative menu. It’s definitely worth checking out next time you’re in the mood for trying something new, mamas.
