On the market for a new mobile phone, mama? (Who isn’t?!) Here’s one that’ll actually get the kiddos off the couch and creating!
We (and our kiddos) recently got our hands on the new Sony Xperia™ XZ Premium mobile phone and went on walkabouts with it around Singapore. It boasts the world’s first smartphone with a 4K HDR display which features the same technology used in Sony’s BRAVIA® TVs – so we had to put it to the test!
Let’s start with the in-built camera, as this is what it’s all about. Besides the normal functions of a standard smartphone, the Sony Xperia™’s Motion Eye™ technology creates super slow motion videos. We all love those family jumping shots, so imagine them recorded at 960 frames per second, which is four times slower than other smartphones. Put it this way – super slow motion extends 0.182 seconds of footage to 6 seconds! My kids definitely had a good giggle doing these pool action shots.
The other great feature of Motion Eye™ is the ‘predictive capture’ function, which detects movement and starts buffering images before you even click on the button. It will then give you up to four of the best shots saved in high resolution – perfect for those action shots, catching your son kicking a goal at footy or your daughter in mid-air doing a cartwheel.
So here is the super cool part and one that we were most excited about: for the first time in a smartphone, the Sony Xperia™ (that includes all the flagship variants – XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact) allows you to take 3D scans in four different modes; head scan, face scan and freeform scan. Is that awesome or what? We had a great time fiddling around with this application. The kids had fun taking 3D pictures of the dog, as you can see! You can then print the scans through the Sony 3D Creator in-built app, share the 3D pics on social media, and even create photos and videos with the augmented reality (AR) function through 3D Creator. Very futuristic!
So mamas, if you’re looking for a smartphone with a fabulous camera all rolled into one, you should consider the Sony Xperia™. It takes really great photos and videos and beats lugging around a big DSLR camera to capture those precious kiddie moments.
