Here at Sassy Mama, we never need an excuse to shop (seriously, just ask our husbands), so when we got invited down to see the newly re-launched multi-concept boutique PACT, we didn’t hesitate for a second!
Having expanded from its original trio of shops, PACT now takes over a whopping 7,500 square feet of Orchard Central. Best described as a medley of various shopping and F&B experiences, this multi-category emporium is the very first of its kind in Singapore. If you’re bored of seeing chain boutique after chain boutique, then this fantastically funky and original haven is for you, mama.
Designed by famed Japanese architect Teruhiro Yanagihara, PACT isn’t so much a conglomeration of boutiques as it is installations, as each shop flows seamlessly and effortlessly into the next. Want to have your nails done after browsing some homeware? Go for it. Fancy picking up some jewellery after lunch? You got it. Free and easy, that’s the feel of PACT.
So just what can you expect to pick up at PACT? Well if it’s food you’re after, then Kilo serves up some tasty treats ranging from hearty burgers to delicate sushi rolls, all washed down with some pretty serious cocktails. If you’ve got the kids with you, it’s probably best to drop past in the morning when the coffee is strong and the space a bit quieter. All your hair cut needs (or in our case, blow dry needs) can be catered to at the faultless Japanese hair salon pact+LIM. Building on the Japanese aesthetic are kiyone+LIM, who specialize in amazingly creative and cute gel nail sets.
Now, onto the shopping! Taking up one of the largest spaces in PACT is cult furniture boutique Fred Lives Here and their eclectic and covetable range of delights (including those gorgeous colourful Eames replica chairs for little ones — we’re only mildly crazy about them). There’s also stunning semi-precious stone jewellery from Killari (we walked away with not one but two of her beautiful bracelets). For creative and seriously cool homeware and accessories, there’s the wonderfully unique SPUR Hauswerks, who also stocks a lovely little range of goodies for kids including Made Little infant clothes, stackable crayons from Baby Colour, and crayons inspired by Monet from Dot Muse. For beautifully tailored, stand-out basics, there’s sifr and finally, wander down to Code Deco for handmade perfumes.
With each boutique manned by helpful, eager and knowledgeable staff, a trip to PACT sure does break up the humdrum of the high street and is the perfect escape for some timeout from the kiddos.
