Education Approach

Play-based learning is the main approach for Methodist Preschool’s young learners in Nursery classes, given their innate curiosity and ability to learn effectively through exploration, self-discovery, experimentation and imagination. With increasing abilities and skills, the children transit to integrated learning where they learn new connections and discover new solutions, through investigation and hands-on application.

At the Kindergarten level, kids participate in inquiry-based learning and guided project-based work integrated across multiple learning domains. They will approach open-ended and thought-provoking questions and participate in the process of inquiry, where they investigate, explore and formulate creative solutions to build their foundation for higher-order thinking skills. Children will present their works to their peers and teachers to develop their confidence and communication skills.

Signature Programmes

Through the application of STEAM education, Methodist Preschool’s unique Applied Learning Programme (ALP) presents learning as a challenging, engaging, and rewarding experience that fosters creative and critical thinking and practice the skills necessary to excel in project-based environments. ALP modules include Key to Learning, Minecraft Education and Strawbees. Another signature programme of theirs is the Signature Space Buds programme, developed in collaboration with Space Faculty and Singapore Space and Technology Ltd! This specially designed programme was made to introduce the K2 cohort to all things space and fire up a lifelong interest and foundational knowledge in space, while learning about STEAM through a purposeful and intentional approach. In addition to the prized opportunity to zoom meet and interact with an astronaut, the MPS Space Buds programme comprises a series of interesting lessons and hands-on activities to learn about space food, the solar system and the moon. Students even get to sample space ice cream!
