The UNTAME – STEAM Festival is back from 4 – 9 October 2022 at KidsSTOP™! Expect sensory theatre and trail experiences, holographic learning spaces and more (+ get 15% off tickets!)

Discover science in the spaces and places around us in the 2022 edition of UNTAME – STEAM Festival at KidsSTOP™. Taking place from 4 to 9 October 2022, the festival has loads of activities for kiddos that’ll get them excited about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). Kids will get to explore space in the sensory theatre performance, learn through various immersive and experiential activities and show off their creativity!

Interactive learning in four different zones

There are four different spaces for kiddos of all ages to play, learn and have fun at UNTAME – STEAM Festival:

1. STEAM PlayYard
You’ll find three different areas here! Help STEMling – the festival’s mascot – create an emotion squeeze ball in the Inner Space, so it can relieve all its big, intense feelings. Then head to the Living Space where kiddos can build a wacky house with recyclable materials just for STEMling. Gear up for an adventure in Outer Space by making a 3D suit so STEMling can explore the stars.

2. Mars I Do This? Sensory Theatre Performance
Theatre can be a great teacher, and in this 45-minute sensory theatre programme, kids will discover themes such as friendship, problem-solving and adventure. Strelka, a dog, and Ham, a chimpanzee, are animal space veterans, and they need to help Jo, a rookie astronaut, prepare for her very first space mission. How they gather the right knowledge, conduct the right experiments and master their problem-solving skills and teamwork shapes the rest of the story.

3. Immersive Zone
Children learn best through interaction, and Science Centre Singapore is taking that to new levels with an immersive, virtual animal kingdom experience. Embark on the festival’s first-ever immersive zone that tells the story of Elly, a baby Asian Elephant and her mother. This light-hearted story celebrates the power of care and resilience during difficult times using cutting-edge holographic technology.

4. Toddler Zone
This zone is where tots will learn about the planet’s changing seasons, their emotions as well as other fun-filled, multisensorial experiences. Tots will get the chance to participate in various inner space, living space, outer space and cyberspace-themed STEAM activities – all specially curated for toddlers, so they’ll have a blast while learning. There’s also an exciting sensory trail, assembled in collaboration with students from Republic Polytechnic.

UNTAME – STEAM: Fun for kids and adults!

Check out Neighbourhood of Tomorrow, a collaborative installation project that brings kids together to create a futuristic neighbourhood using cardboard pieces. Each creation will form the final art installation, which will be revealed and displayed at UNTAME – STEAM Festival. Parents and teachers aren’t left out either, as the ‘Seeing Play with New Eyes’ workshop conducted by Chapter Zero will allow them to explore play schemas and mindful communication tools that promote positive behaviours during play. Participants will experience loose-parts play and learn how to teach children valuable life skills through play.
