Calling all kids who love music and singing! Sign up for The SSCC Experience – a one-day workshop and performance with the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir at the iconic Victoria Concert Hall!

Do you have a child who loves to sing or has an interest in music? Give your child the opportunity to be a chorister for a day with the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir (SSCC)! The SSCC Experience is a one-day workshop for 8 – 12-year-olds (music beginners are welcome!), which comprises a full day of learning that will culminate in an evening performance at the iconic Victoria Concert Hall! There are two dates to choose from, so keep scrolling to find out how your little one can sign up!

The SSCC Experience: Workshop and Performance at Victoria Concert Hall

Formed in 2006, the SSCC is the only children’s choir that performs with the national orchestra and has over 200 members aged between 9 and 18. Led by choirmaster Wong Lai Foon and a team of conductors and staff, the SSCC nurtures young singers’ love for music into a lifelong passion. Singing with the SSCC requires discipline and teamwork, which in turn fosters confidence and self-esteem, and helps develop important life skills in your child. The SSCC Experience will allow kiddos to peek into a day in the life of SSCC choristers, and children will get to learn about music-making, the basics of rhythms, solfeggio and choral techniques. Kids will then wrap up their experience with an evening performance at Victoria Concert Hall. Together with choristers from the children’s choir, kids will get to perform materials they have learnt during the programme. Family and friends are invited to watch the performance, so don’t forget to charge your phones!

Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir Auditions

If your kids enjoyed their time at The SSCC Experience and want to join the SSCC, you can register them for the SSCC auditions (recommended for kids aged 8 to 14. If your kids are above the age of 11, they will require a minimum of ABRSM or equivalent Music Theory Grade 3 qualification). Auditionees will need to go through their audition song, aural and musicianship assessments and may be asked to try additional musicianship exercises if they have musical knowledge.
