House on the Hill Montessori stays true to core Montessori principles, and has lots of happy families and three (brand new!) locations to show for it. Come see for yourself at their January open houses!

We love the Montessori method because it’s great for fostering independence in kids, empowering and helping them to become more confident. But true Blue Montessori schools are kind of far and few between in Singapore, mama. While many schools incorporate Montessori principles or teaching materials into their classroom environments, there aren’t too many that also adhere to its mixed-age classrooms, or have teachers who’ve receive extensive and authentic training.

House on the Hill Montessori is one of those rare gems! With three central locations across Singapore – at Mount Sophia (behind Plaza Singapura), Balmoral and Pasir Panjang – it’s super convenient for families and little ones to experience House on the Hill for themselves. Come find out more at three open houses this January!

Impressively, all three locations moved into new premises in 2018; Mount Sophia occupies the entire former Nan Hua Girls School, Balmoral spans across two beautiful old bungalows, and Pasir Panjang is above a post office! Each school features an all-Northern White Cedar playground set (unsurprisingly, a huge hit with the kiddos!) and both Balmoral and Pasir Panjang have expansive outdoor gardens. We love how much emphasis the school places on heritage and respect for the green environment.

House on the Hill truly values childhood, and aims to provide a holistic way for children to discover themselves. Through the strong Montessori learning foundation, kids develop life skills like creativity and independence in an intrinsically motivated way, along with a true love for learning.

Parents love House on the Hill for its small teacher-student ratio and of course its mixed age classrooms, where children develop confidence and leadership qualities that help them to both adapt and understand other children’s perspectives. The school also offers full day, half day, and flexi-care options, working with parents to find drop-off and pick-up times that suit the needs of every family’s schedule and best cater to each child’s individual learning style.

Teachers – who receive extensive training and additional career coaching and personal development opportunities – are warm, dedicated and personable in their interactions with both children and their families. And it’s not just the teachers who get extra support; parents also enjoy House on the Hill’s parenting workshops, where the school covers common behavioural issues and provides a supportive environment to ensure children are exposed to consistent values and strategies both at home and in school.

And kiddos don’t just receive top-quality Montessori learning materials in the classroom – nutrition is a point of emphasis as well so those lucky tykes receive well-balanced meals created in concert with internationally renowned nutrition expert Ian Marber. What age did you say they go up to? Can mamas join?!

If you’re as keen to learn more as we are, House on the Hill will be holding three open houses at each of its school locations during the month of January.
