Mamas on the hunt for a truly special preschool experience, take note: Blue House will be adding an additional Nursery Class starting this fall, due to much popular demand!

As Singapore’s first ever Reggio Emilia-inspired preschoolBlue House Nursery & International Preschool has once again demonstrated its unwavering focus on the powerful developmental process of children under 3 (did you know that children in this age group experience development unmatched by any other development period in our lifetime?).

Adding additional class places and resources in their specialist environment for children 18 months to 3 years old will enhance an already rich creative arts programme, which, combined with the flexibility to attend for 2, 3 or 5 mornings per week, offers families one of Singapore’s most unique and inspiring early years’ options.

Blue House’s specially trained educators have a particularly unique and extensive understanding of the developmental, social and emotional journey children take in their early years. Blue House believes in facilitating that unique developmental period, in providing unlimited opportunities for creativity, freedom of thought, and for each little one’s voice to emerge and be heard.

Blue House sees children as highly capable, competent, curious and with strong desire to connect with the world. It values each child in their uniqueness. As a cornerstone of the Reggio Emilia philosophy, Blue House does not give children the answers, but rather invites them to seek information out, with educators acting as guides and facilitators, challenging and provoking their path.  Blue House children become powerful researches, collaborators, problem solvers and theory testers with a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively. Blue House children know they are powerful, meaningful and that they have something of value worth sharing with the world!

As the first Reggio Emilia inspired school in Singapore, Blue House’s particularly unique and extensive understanding of children’s special early years journey is largely thanks to an extensive and rigorous in-house training programme. Having received countless requests from other curious educators to open its’ doors and share its wisdom, Blue House has this March introduced a formalized Pedagogical Outreach Programme (POP), inviting educators from across the region into the school to learn more about its unique framework, practice and principles.  We’re told the event sold out in just two weeks!  If you’re looking for a school that sets the industry standard as a role model to other educators, you’ve found it, mama!

Blue House has become renowned not just for the strength of its unique educational programme, but for its warm and welcoming sense of community. Just stroll around Blue House and take a good look at The Pantry (note the lucky mamas sitting in the window looking out over the lush greenery with Wi-Fi and a latte!). The Pantry’s walls were painted, the communal table was built, lights were hung, coffee machine sourced and coffee beans uniquely blended – all by Blue House parents. You’ll find traces of Blue House families running throughout the school’s DNA, proudly displayed and shared for all in the community. The sense of community and sharing is real, and we love it.

As if that’s not enough, yet another exciting piece of news is that Blue House recently welcomed Hilda Diaz to their community as Atelierista (Teacher of the arts). With two early childhood degrees under her belt, it’s her Masters in Museology that we think really brings a new dimension to Blue House’s creative core.

Hilda’s passion lies with museums, where she volunteers, collaborates and seeks out inspiration, bringing a new element to Blue House’s arts programme in concert with the school’s two Resident Artists, process painter Stefanie Hauger and Molecular biologist Isabelle Desjeux. In direct collaboration with the children, all three create artistic experiences for Blue House children that connect to their classroom discoveries in a way so inspired and rich in experiences we’re almost lost for words, mamas!

Indeed, the level of creative processes Blue House brings children in the early years is unmatched. It not only helps children develop an ability to think creatively, broadly and without limitation, but it also encourages risk taking, theory testing and challenging early discoveries.

Blue House offers a powerful pathway for children from 6 months to 6 years old, starting with the Infant & Toddler Atelier programme from 6 months of age, to the Nursery Programme from 18 months to 3 years of age, through to the Preschool and Kindergarten programme from 3 to 6 years of age.
