GESS has just launched their Centre for Excellence, giving outstanding students the chance to learn from industry experts from Danfoss, TUM Asia, Volocopter and more
Do most international schools in Singapore have a dedicated programme for gifted or talented students, giving them opportunities to excel even further while they’re in school? GESS does, now with the Centre for Excellence programme which supports high-potential students.
GESS caters to students from Preschool to High School at their state-of-the-art campus, offering a choice between the English IB Curriculum and the German Curriculum to students from over 67 nationalities. Their new Centre for Excellence programme creates targeted opportunities for talented students, who will then be able to achieve a strong standing and a competitive edge to pursue their aspirations beyond their school years.
How are these students chosen, you ask? GESS takes a holistic approach to nurturing talent. Teaching staff carry out periodic screening to systematically identify high-potential and talented students (even homeroom teachers are trained to spot them!), having received professional training on how to mentor and stretch the minds of such students. Where suitable, students can also study subjects at higher levels. Additionally, the school assigns selected students strength-oriented mentors and also invites them to tap into the school’s many programmes and partnerships with university and industry-level partners.
Besides being the only school outside of Europe to offer the Junior Engineer Academy Programme, GESS has also recently been accepted into the European Talent Support Network – ETSN’s only talent point in Asia! This allows GESS to continue running unique partnerships with industry leaders, enabling students to become outstanding and exceptional in their areas of talent such as in sciences, engineering, technology, arts, sports and more. Some of the school’s noteworthy partnerships have made it possible for students to gain early exposure to the industry, helping them gain a better standing in the tertiary education and jobs market in future. One such example is the upcoming GESS Industry Talks event, happening in partnership with Danfoss, Technical University of Munich (TUM) Asia, Volocopter and more.
As parents, you’ll also be guided to understand how to best support and develop your talented, high-potential children. From counselling and consulting services for parents to information sessions with national and international experts, GESS will work to equip you with all the useful resources you’ll need!
