With the help of travel search engine Kayak, we’ve rounded up the five best exotic beach holidays for your next getaway with the family!
When you have a little one, planning a holiday goes from spontaneously booking last minute romantic getaways as a couple, to meticulously poring over resort photos to find the best resort for the whole family.
Help is at hand! Travel search engine KAYAK.sg has put together a hitlist with five baby-friendly beach destinations that are accessible, clean and safe while at the same time providing romantic holiday vistas for mum and dad. Best of all, they are within easy reach and only a direct flight away from Singapore. On average, these holidays can be booked for less than S$700 per person.
1. Batu Ferringhi, George Town, Malaysia
Penang’s capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is better known for its quaint shophouses and local food scene than for its beaches, but just 30 minutes away you’ll find some truly fantastic family resorts. On the north coast of the island, Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah offer large, well-equipped accommodation with swimming pools and restaurants along with an impressive white sand beach.
A trip to paradise with the family is only a 90-minute flight from Singapore. Flights to George Town and a two-nights’ stay cost, on average, S$489 per person.
2. Pantai Tengah, Langkawi, Malaysia
Pulau Langkawi offers some of the best beaches within a 90-minute flight from home. For families, the best bet is Pantai Tengah, is just a short drive south of the airport. Here, a quiet and peaceful one-kilometre stretch of coastline features crystal clear water and is a relaxed alternative to the island’s more popular beaches. A selection of all-inclusive resorts are within reach of the beach, which means you can settle in and let someone else take care of the details for a few days. Older kids will enjoy Underwater World, once voted Malaysia’s best man-made attraction.
Return flights to Langkawi plus two-nights’ accommodation cost, on average, S$620 per person.
3. Mactan Island, Cebu City, Philippines
The Philippine Islands top many travellers’ bucket lists because of their impossibly white sandy beaches and clear water. The same traits also make them very popular with families. Luckily there are direct flights between Singapore and Cebu, making some of the most stunning beaches easily accessible. Just a fifteen minute drive from Cebu airport, you’ll find plenty of resorts on Mactan Island.
Flights to Cebu together with two-nights’ accommodation cost, on average, S$630 per person.
4. Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand
It’s ironic that an island known for its hedonistic nightlife scene is also one of the most family-friendly destinations in Thailand. But who are we to argue with great weather, safe beaches, clean seas and a wealth of attractions, especially when they are a very short commute from home? There are also extensive spa and wellness options around Phuket for parents in need of a little pampering.
Flights to Phuket together with a two-night stay cost, on average, S$663 per person.
5. Jimbaran Beach, Bali, Indonesia
Bali may be a tried and tested destination, but due to its laid back atmosphere and stunning beaches it continues to be one of the best places to visit for families. The new international airport terminal and fast visa stamping process have only enhanced this destination’s ease of access from Singapore. For the shortest possible journey from home to beach blanket, the resorts at Jimbaran Beach just south of the airport are the perfect option. Once the babies are in bed, the Rock Bar will provide stunning views with your sundowners.
Return flights to Denpasar including a two-night stay cost, on average, S$686 per person.
