Online Debating & Communication Workshops by The Rhetoric Collective

The Rhetoric Collective believes that the ability to connect with people, convey opinions and convince others are critical for children to navigate all of life’s important milestones. That’s the main goal of their virtual Persuasion and Advocacy holiday camps, which are designed to improve children’s day-to-day communication and help them excel in competition settings. These meaningful workshops are conducted by coaches who believe that anyone can communicate and debate with the right tools and training, and are experienced in working with students from various walks of life. Their holiday workshops are suitable for children aged 9 to 17 and will be conducted over Zoom. There are sibling discounts available, too!

Changemakers Workshop

This three-day workshop will focus on themes of diplomacy, journalism and law, and explores how persuasion and advocacy can be used to manifest change. Children will learn techniques that sharpen their critical thinking and writing skills and learn how to develop a voice that represents the differences presented in each of these themes. Each day will focus on a different theme, too:
– Day 1: Diplomacy and the Model United Nations
– Day 2: Truth and Perspectives in Journalism
– Day 3: Speaking with Conviction in Law

Practical Debating Workshop

This two-day workshop focuses entirely on practical debating skills. It gives children a chance to hone their skills in the world of competitive debating and learn about the different formats, strategies and debating skills. These beneficial skills can be applied beyond the classroom, and debating novices are welcome to join.
