Nurtured Nest Preschool is Now Open! Here’s How to Book a School Tour at this New Reggio Forest Preschool

Newly opened in July 2021, Nurtured Nest is a living classroom like no other. The aim? To shape children’s consciousness through a blend of Reggio and forest schooling – all done in a sustainable environment. Nurtured Nest dubs itself a Reggio Forest preschool (said to be Singapore’s first!) and offers an emergent curriculum with unique learning experiences for each child.

Children often spend hours outdoors, and the preschool has a large eco-garden with a huge sandpit and eco-pond. The garden is rife with various flora and fauna, and there’s plenty of biodiversity for children to enjoy, whether it’s the frogs and fish in the pond or the butterflies and birds on their butterfly trail. Children are even taught how to grow food at the preschool’s vegetable garden. There’s something new to learn here every day, and children often spend hours outdoors. As part of the weekly schedule, the preschool also aims to conduct forest trips for children aged 4 to 6. They are also closely guided by L3-qualified forest guides, an in-house practitioner in play therapy and qualified teachers with experience in emergent curriculum

Sustainability is a priority at Nurtured Nest, too, and the furniture, uniforms, materials and equipment are made from sustainable materials. Furthermore, the preschool’s meal plans have been recognised with the “Health Meal” award by the Singapore Ministry of Health. Nurtured Nest is also planning to transition into an entirely gluten-free meal plan by 2022.
