#BeYourOwnBeautiful: 15 Gorgeous Products in One Beauty Box

First there was Ipsy, then Birchbox, and now our very own #byob

If you’ve never heard of beauty subscription boxes mama, you may be missing out. The reason I’m not certain is because it’s near impossible for me to love a beauty product wholeheartedly (I’ll stick by a new product for about a month or two only to realise it does absolutely nothing for my skin), which leaves me a-ok with skipping a subscription service of random sample (and/or full-sized) products in the mail every month.

But this is where the new #byob pop-up shop in Suntec City Mall is a game-changer: instead of waiting to get a box of random products you might not even like, just walk into the store, get yourself a box, and fill it with goodies of your choice, from a range of travel-friendly cosmetics, perfumes and skincare brought to you by regional beauty giant Luxasia, from French and American brands like Anna Sui Cosmetics, Lanvin Parfums, Tweezerman and more.

The Menu

Choose between two box sizes – Mini Lux and Super Lux – and fill them up with a bed of 6 beauty Teasers (essentially a bundle of sachets or super-mini vials of perfume) together with a selection of (larger-sized) Basics and Premiums of your choice.

Mini Lux, $25:

The Box

After browsing for a bit (some of the products have their own testers, so you’ll get to try, spritz or swatch them before bagging), I was happy with my Super Lux box filled with brand new fragrances and makeup, plus skincare I’ve been dying to try but have always thought twice about (because, ‘spensive!). The products in question: the Guerlain Meteorites Base and Cils D’enfer Maxi Lash Mascara, and Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base.

#byob also houses full-sized products from a variety of cult beauty brands, including larger versions of the Teasers, Basics and Premiums, so you can always come back to purchase the full-sized item if you happen to fall in love with them. Another cool feature in the store is the one-of-a-kind Fragrance Profiling app, which takes you through a series of questions and results in a curated selection of perfumes for you to choose from. Take the personalisation to the next level and decorate your box with stickers and stamps at the craft counter. The goal is for everyone to walk away from #byob even more beautiful than when they came in – they offer in-store glam-up services ($18 each) like express manicures and facial massages, flash makeovers, brow trimming and flash hairstyling.
