Summer learning opportunities galore at SAS Summer Semester

Need a way to keep your kids busy this summer, mama? Make the most of the time off with the Summer Semester at Singapore American School!

Whether you’ve got a toddler at home or a high schooler preparing for university, everyone can benefit from the amazing SAS Summer Semester at Singapore American School, mama!

With two sessions running from June 6-17 and June 20-July 1, all summer classes are run by current SAS faculty members, some of the best teachers in Singapore. SAS Summer Semester is open to both SAS and non-SAS students, with programmes specially tailored for children ages 3-18.

For children ages 3 to 6, there’s the Early Childhood Center, which aims to let little ones take an active role in their learning. Based on principles of respect and community through exploration and discovery, the program is a total blast for kiddos, with activities ranging from crafts to cooking, dance to drama, and painting to puppetry. Sounds like fun to us!

For slightly older kids, SAS is offering an expansive two-week Chinese immersion program for both elementary and middle school students. What better way is there for kids to hone their language skills and improve interpersonal communication than in this fun, low-pressure environment?

Students are placed into multi-age groups (itself a great learning tool!) based on language proficiency at the novice or intermediate level, with every group led by SAS educators with a 1:10 teaching ratio. The program incorporates its key principles of intellectual curiosity, wellness, and creativity into the curriculum, so kids aren’t just building up their vocabulary and improving their speaking, but they’re having a great time doing it.

At the high school level, students can pursue deep intellectual exploration in staple subjects like Geometry and Biology, or take one of SAS’s unique and exclusive partnered courses with leading institutions like top-rated business school INSEAD (“Developing Innovative Business Ventures”), Stanford University (“Creative Writing” and “Math Logic & Problem Solving”), and DigiPen Institute of Technology (“Artificial Intelligence for Games”).

Custom-designed (and taught) by SAS master teachers and educators from these leading universities, these amazing classes will allow students to engage in challenging, academic coursework designed to help them follow their passion! (It doesn’t hurt that they can even earn course credit for Geometry and Bio while they’re at it.)

Above all else, the SAS Summer Semester focuses on the whole child, bringing out the best in not only academic performance, but also creativity and wellness. If summer is a time to explore and discover, there’s no better place to do it than at SAS, mama!

Singapore American School Summer Semester runs from June 6 to June 17, and from June 20 to July 1, 2016. Timings are Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm. Bus transportation is available at extra cost, and lunch is included in the tuition fee.
