Have you ever fancied doing a mama and child bonding holiday? Preferably somewhere luxurious where mama can hit the spa/sip some wine/read and relax while the little ones are entertained? Well, we’ve got just the ticket – and it involves one of our fave spots on earth (Bali!), an amazing hotel group (Uma by COMO!) and star Singaporean enrichment organization Julia Gabriel.
This special 5-day retreat for 4-9 year olds will run from the 14th – 20th June (though you can choose to attend for just a few days or even just drop in on sessions) rather than the whole week if you’re time-crunched). Named, “The Quest for Answers”, the programme is designed to celebrate children’s natural curiosity (maybe stopping them from asking you “why” all the time!).
There are 2.5 hours of drop-off activities each day, involving drama exercises, problem-solving challenges and arts-based sessions; there will also be workshops to encourage kids to collaborate and communicate effectively. For parents there are two “Discover Your Child” talks given by senior Julia Gabriel teachers who will share their proven techniques for bringing up engaged, interested and self-motivated children (hands up who’d like one of them!). In addition to all this, you can head on a Rice Paddy and Volcano Sighting Excursion with your munchkin, or take part in one of the fab Uma activities, like visiting a Balinese home.
While junior is being entertained (and enriched bien sûr) parental units can enjoy restorative therapies at the COMO Shambala Retreat, or venture out on culinary, cultural or shopping excursions to Ubud and its surrounding villages. Another fun idea? One or two nights during the week, children will take part in an “pyjama camping” evening activity, so mama can dine peacefully at Uma (or romantically with Daddy) guilt-free! Got more questions? Check out the FAQ section on the Retreat’s site.
