Looking for a new coffee joint that serves a mean cup of coffee but is totally kid-friendly? Then head to Revolution Coffee and order yourself a cappuccino mama – you won’t be disappointed!

A relatively new kid on the coffee block (they only opened in early 2013), this quaint café is a lovely spot for a morning coffee with the kiddies. Opening at 8am on weekdays (mamas with early risers this one’s for you!) there is a ton of space inside for strollers, highchairs for restless toddlers, plus kids books and colouring sheets to keep little hands busy. There’s even a tricycle for wee ones looking to do some freewheeling in the open space in front of the café!

The coffee is flown in twice monthly from Australia (that means it’s super fresh!) and is supplied by Sydney-based roaster and cafe, Single Origin Roasters. Coffee is made to order – cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and flat whites are the order of the day – and are smooth and rich without any bitter aftertaste. For this coffee loving mama, my flat white was spot on and a desperately needed caffeine kick!

Focusing on communal dining, the centerpiece of this café is the huge 16-seater square table in the centre of the room. Designed to enhance the community feel of the place, it’s perfect for plonking the kids around while you eat your brunch together.

The café’s location at the new Infinite Studios near Wessex Estate means it is a bit of a pain to get to if you’re not local, especially if you’re using public transport. There is a shuttle bus that runs from nearby One North MRT but only runs at 20-minute intervals and only on weekdays (for my transport obsessed son however, getting to catch both the train and the bus in one day is always super fun for him!).

Pancakes

Their new brunch menu does make the hike all the more worthwhile however. Simple, fresh and well-made food dominates the menu and includes specialties like gula melaka butterscotch pancakes, banana bread with homemade yogurt, and bircher muesli with freshly made berry compote. The pancakes were definitely the stand out hit for this mama – delicious!

Despite its isolated location, Revolution Coffee is definitely worth the trek for a good cup of coffee in child-friendly surroundings. And if all else fails and the kids start getting cranky, you can always take them to nearby Happy Willow to burn off that extra energy!
