Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, is known for its structured forms, controlled movements and emphasis on conduct, making it perfect for kids develop physical coordination and discipline. In fact, one mum told us about going for a martial arts class with her kids, and let’s just say it was an experience! 1. Gaonhae Taekwondo

Gaonhae Taekwondo has five convenient locations across Singapore, so you’re bound find a taekwondo school near you. Classes are organised by age, with the littlest ones joining the Little Gaonhae class for 4 to 5-year-olds. Kids learn to master taekwondo techniques, and once they’re ready, they can move up to Team Gaonhae, which is the signature programme that prepares them for Poomsae and Kyorugi competitions, both locally and internationally!

2. INDUK Taekwondo

With three training halls, a full equipment room and more, INDUK Singapore lets kids learn taekwondo in a fully equipped 320sqm space. The halls are kitted out with safety mats and air-conditioning, so parents can relax while their little ones train. The school’s head instructor even served as a national coach for the Iran taekwondo team! 3. ILDO Taekwondo

Little tots aged 3 and up can sign up for taekwondo classes at ILDO Taekwondo, where they’ll learn the fundamentals through fun, games-based lessons. Parents who want in on the action can also join the family classes. 4. Johan Taekwondo

Johan Taekwondo is a popular choice among parents in Singapore. Originally from South Korea, the school has 10 locations across Singapore, with classes led by a team of certified coaches. Their toddler classes cater to kids aged 3 to 4, but enrolment is assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on your little one’s readiness!

5. J H Kim Taekwondo Institute

J H Kim Taekwondo Institute lets kids train under the guidance of an internationally certified black belt instructor. The school is affiliated with the Singapore Taekwondo Federation and offers classes for children from as young as three, with smaller class sizes to ensure safety and individual attention. 6. Kyunghee Taekwondo

Kyunghee Taekwondo stands out because of its unique curriculum, which was specially put together by Grandmaster Eom, who boasts an impressive resume, including being the Singapore Regional Chairman for the World Taekwondo Peace Federation and an 8th Dan Black Belt with Kukkiwon Taekwondo. Kids here follow a standardised syllabus across all outlets, so you know what they’re learning is consistent. Plus, the school is an authorised centre (DoJang) by KyungHee University Taekwondo Union, the world-leading university in taekwondo, where many medalists come from!

7. Kickmatics Taekwondo

Kickmatics Taekwondo has a coaching team made up of former national athletes, so you know your kid’s in good hands. In fact, this taekwondo school was founded by Jordan Tay, a national taekwondo athlete himself! 8. Kicks Taekwondo

Kicks Taekwondo has two locations in central Singapore, perfect for folks in the area looking to get in on some high-kicking action. Kids as young as four can join classes here, starting with balance, coordination and motor skills in a fun environment. 9. Singapore Taekwon-Do Academy

The Singapore Taekwon-do Academy is the largest and oldest Taekwondo organisation in Singapore, running since 1971! The whole management team are black belt instructors, and the training syllabus is set by the STA Masters Forum, so you know your child is learning the best techniques. Kids get to train under professional instructors and even take part in the annual Traditional Taekwondo Tournament organised by the Academy.
