Calling all science-loving kiddos! An icy holiday adventure awaits at Sci-Sational Christmas (12 – 26 December 2022). Check out snowflake crafts, ice cube fishing and other fun science activities plus score free ice cream!

Kids, do you wish you could play with snow this holiday? We’ve found the next best thing – Science Centre Singapore’s Snow Academy is diving deep into all things ice with its Sci-Sational Christmas adventure from 12 to 26 December 2022! Kids aged 5 and above will get to learn fun facts about ice, join in with a range of Christmas activities, score free ice cream* and be entertained by a mini ‘Show & Tell’ session – all for the price of the regular Science Centre Singapore entry ticket from just $4!

7 stations with science demos & hands-on activities

Look out for seven activity stations dedicated to the wonderful science of ice, and all are included in the Science Centre entrance ticket!

1. Floating Cloud Station
Want to see a floating cloud up close? Swing by the Floating Cloud activity station to learn how floating clouds are formed and be awed by gravity’s effects on them.
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily
Where: Demo Corner, Hall F, Science Centre Singapore

2. Ice Cube Melting Experiment
At this activity station, kids will get to set an ice cube on two different blocks of material and see which one melts faster! You may be surprised to see what the right answer actually is!
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily

3. Snowflake Paper Crafts
Did you know that no two snowflakes are alike or have the same shape and size? Kiddos will learn all that and much more at this paper crafting activity, as they create their own unique snowflake design.
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily

4. Keeping Warm Activity
Dressing up warm during the winter season keeps your body temperature from dropping and can protect you from hypothermia or frostbite. But which materials can effectively keep you warm in the coldest temperatures? Discover that in this Christmas activity where kids will experience different materials and their effectiveness in helping us stay warm and comfortable.
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily

5. The Battle of the Ices
What is dry ice and how is it different from regular ice? How is it made? At this icy Christmas activity station, you’ll learn the difference between the two, observe their individual behaviours and see what happens when both come into contact with each other.
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily

6. Ice Cube Fishing
This activity station may deal with simple kitchen science, but it’s also an opportunity for kids to put their smartest foot forward to catch as many ice cubes as they can in 1 minute!
When: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:30pm – 4:30pm, daily

7. Mini Show and Tell
Follow Science Centre Singapore’s merry elf scientist as they complete a series of super cool live demonstrations that showcase the wonders of ‘hot ice’ and how superconducting magnetic levitation works.
When: 11am – 11:15am & 2pm – 2:15pm, daily
Where: Hall A, Science Centre Singapore

Collect a Galaxy Rewards Sci-sational Passport and complete at least four activity stations. The first 100 per day to complete at least four activities and sign up for Science Centre Singapore’s Galaxy Rewards membership will get to redeem one free ice cream.
*Galaxy Rewards membership is for those aged 16 and above only.

Extra: Cryogenic Science Show ($5 tickets)

Ever wondered what you can do with ice, dry ice and liquid nitrogen? Watch the pros at work in the coolest science show in town, as scientists show you how these three things affect each other. The Cryogenic Science Show is ticketed separately from the other stations, but is just $5 per ticket and can be booked online.
When: 3:30pm – 4pm, daily
