An uncompromising exploration of power, ambition and the American way, the series orbits the scheming Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey), the House Majority Whip. Underwood is the politician’s politician – masterful, beguiling, charismatic and ruthless. He and his equally ambitious wife Claire (Robin Wright Penn) stop at nothing to ensure their ascendancy.
An epic gangster drama set in the lawless streets of 1920s, postwar Birmingham. The story centres on the Romani Peaky Blinders gang and their ambitious and highly dangerous boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), with a bit of family drama and romance thrown in for good measure. Non-Brits may require subtitles!
When a woman is rescued from a doomsday cult and lands in New York City, she must navigate a world she didn’t think even existed anymore. This one was created by super mama Tina Fey and Robert Carlock – the team behind all-time hilarious 30 Rock – and features a slew of fantastic supporting characters. Keep your eye out for Mad Men’s Jon Hamm as you’ve never seen him before!
Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) star as two women whose lives are suddenly turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, they form an unlikely bond to face an uncertain future together and discover a new definition of “family,” with laughter, tears and plenty of mood enhancers along the way. Fonda and Tomlin are surely two of the coolest septuagenarians on the planet!
Haven’t caught this global phenomenon yet, mama? Stranger Things has been called a “love letter to the 80s”, as it’s clearly inspired by classics like ET, The Goonies, and Alien, and features a truly pop-riffic soundtrack and theme song. Not to mention two of its co-stars are 80s icons Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine.
