Looking for a Singapore preschool, mama? Check out this handy checklist of 10 top things to look for from some of the world’s premier educators
Choosing a preschool for your little one can be overwhelming, but taking a school tour is a great first step to finding a good fit school for your child, mama. MindChamps PreSchool has prepared this handy checklist of the 10 most important things to look for during their MindChamps PreSchool Welcome Days (24 February to 17 March 2018). With their unique S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum, your child’s mind will be stimulated with age-appropriate activities, giving him/her a great head start in early learning and a smooth transition to Primary 1.
1. Background, license and awards
An unrelenting commitment to excellence in cultivating young minds has led to MindChamps being named the Top Brand Winner in the preschool education category in Singapore’s prestigious Influential Brands Awards for four consecutive years since 2014.
2. Teachers’ qualifications
MindChamps PreSchool teachers are required to undergo up to 200 hours of compulsory training and accreditation with continuous upgrades. So you can breathe easy knowing your child’s mind is nurtured by the most qualified and dedicated teachers around, mama.
3. Teacher-child ratio
Preschools with smaller teacher-to-child ratios allow your child to get more individual attention and care. At MindChamps PreSchool, the teacher-to-child ratio is below the recommended standard set by ECDA.
MindChamps PreSchool’s unique multi-modal S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum refers to the Sensory, Motor, Intellectual, Linguistic, Emotional and Social aspects of a child’s development. The S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum acts as the foundation to develop the ‘3 Minds’ (Champion Mind, Learning Mind and Creative Mind) in preschoolers, giving them a head start in learning as they prepare for Primary 1.
5. School fees
Ask about the monthly school fees and the subsidies that you are eligible for. Singaporean children whose mother/single father works 56 hours or more per month are eligible for the Basic Child Care Subsidy.
6. Enrichment fees (if any)
MindChamps PreSchool offers enrichment programmes such as Gourmet Moments, Creativity & Theatrical Strategies, NeuroMooves and Music for the Mind, at no additional cost!
7. Teaching methods
One of the teaching methods adopted in MindChamps PreSchool is Crafted Play, where teachers stoke children’s imagination. This process helps to nurture them to be creative and confident learners for life.
8. School Values
In line with the MindChamps education and life philosophy of 100% RESPECT and Zero Fear, preschoolers are instilled with important life values that help prepare them to face the challenges of the future as young champions. These values include confidence, integrity, gratefulness, compassion, self-reflective and creativity, among others.
9. Parent-Centre communication
At MindChamps PreSchool, all centre-level communications are done through a mobile app.
10. School transportation
Most MindChamps PreSchools provide school bus services – you can find out the details during your visit to your preferred centre.
