Is it better to keep our kids safe or empower them by letting them engage in risky play?

Newly opened ForestPlay is Singapore’s first Nature Adventure Playscape, combining the concept of an adventure playground with learning amongst nature. This exciting new outdoor playscape set against the backdrop of the ocean, provides a fun and challenging environment for kids 4-14 years old, to take part in risky play. ForestPlay powered by forest school educators Kidz Treehouse provides children with unique challenges and activities that will foster their imagination and creativity and help them develop anti-fragility, grit, and appreciation of nature. Get ready for some exciting activities, girls and boys!

Benefits of risky play

From being in close contact with fire while they cook their own snacks to jumping off wooden logs, kids will feel a sense of exhilaration as they play and work with wood and tools at ForestPlay. As they play, your children will also be learning! They will be trying out new ways and ideas to make that wooden sword or dollhouse and grow in confidence and emotional regulation. That’s not all. Children who engage in risky play also learn to evaluate risks and manage them, all of which are essential 21st-century skills.

Climbing trees? Your child might not look like they are breaking a sweat. But as they undertake risky challenges at ForestPlay, they will evaluate the necessary steps taken, consequences, loss, and reward, developing them into independent and creative learners!
